~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hang in there, Lisa.  Tough times, but PIR will make it all better.  Won't be long now for this group!

JLM:  Yes, the divisions enter the hall in order.  My son's was the 2nd one to enter.

Yes, this group will be in their whites.

Lala can tell you about the 900 division since her daughter was in that one.

As far as where to meet your sailors when Liberty is called, I don't think you will have a problem finding one another.  If your sailor stays put in that division area, you will get to each other!  Where you need to plan to meet is after your sailor returns to the ship and then meets up with you again.  You can't walk back to the ship with them.....so plan a place to meet back up.

My son was in the 2nd lowest division number of his PIR group and we went to the far end of the hall (9 divisions in our group).  The Honor Guards are in front of each division section, with the division numbers right there, so they are very visible.  There are also sailors at the hall entrance to show you where to go.

The "goosebump" moment that landlocked described is the BEST!  Just such an exciting time when the SRs march in.  Sadly, we never spotted my son during PIR.  He is short and was kind of stuck in the middle, so we never could catch a glimpse (surprising how they all look alike!).  I was glad to see him when Liberty was called...to make sure he was really there!  :-) When the PIR DVD we ordered arrived, I finally got to see him as he marched by the Review Stand.  YAH!

Bring binos... :-). I forgot too...but would not have seen my Sailor anyways while he was in formation.

He was behind a tall guy.

I DID however get a pic of him marching in. Did not know it until later! He was on the very end of the row "bleachers side" and I was just taking random pics...hoping. LOL
BTW, the Drill hall is painted "Navy Gray" and it is not always camera friendly. The pictures tend to come out dark...so take some test shots while waiting.

Funny story...our youngest takes martial arts lessons and Hubby said he could not get good pics...it clicked that the studio walls are..."Navy Gray" :-/

so true Donna, most of them will draw a map and send it in a letter so you can find them :) I was luck and mine was singing with the choir right up at the microphone :)

Lisa.....I sent you an ad. I'm so sorry your feeling this way and I relate. Even though I hear from my son, I feel the same. I feel like everything is on hold, while my SR is away.

May I ask for details on how PIR is conducted?  Do the Divisions march in numerical order, such as first will be 331, then 332 and so on?  Does DIV 943 march in first, last?  I assume they will be in whites, since don't they usually change to blues around October?  Should we be asking our SR where in the marching ranks they will be as I assume it is the same place every time.  After years of watching Marching Band I know how the marchers can all look alike!  Are there any suggestions on where to sit so we can best guess where our SR DIV might stop?  Any suggestions on where to tell our SR to meet us so we aren't all wandering around not finding each other and since I intend to be shedding copious tears my eyesight will be affected too! <G> In short any minutiae is appreciated.  THANKS......love this site <}
