~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Carla:  She didn't say who told her that but that it would be the last call till August 30th which I believe would be their I'm a Sailor call.  We have just stayed up to date with this site and facebook and I start getting notices as soon as someone starts getting calls.  Once someone in our PIR starts getting them, usually everyone else does as well.    I also heard many getting to try many numbers, sorry your son didn't.

I am not sure about calls during the week. I received 2 calls but my SR was in an office with whomever and needed more information sent for his future A school training. They are in training during the week , so I can't imagine them allowing calls during the week, but I will have my phone close this Sat.. Keep us posted if any calls come in during the week. My email beeps, and when I get your messages , it gives me a " head ups". Hope you all have a great day. I feel as the days pass, the time is coming nearer,  the tears seem less. Waiting for his letter today or tomorrow.

Hi all! I am fairly new to the group and have enjoyed and appreciated all of your comments. I have been lucky enough to speak to my SR once for 30 mins and 3 very brief calls. (The 3 calls were for info she needed for the job she will be training for. However, I think she was looking for a reason to hear a familiar voice. But I'll take it!) She seems to be doing okay just very homesick. I must admit the wisdom pulling comments gave me some anxiety. My SR is 17 and her first time away home. Thinking she went through such a procedure w/out mom was a little rough. She is a tough cookie though. Guess its time for mom to toughen up! Keep the great comments up. It's nice to feel supported :)

Callsforrecruits is a great source for calling cards, but remember they are only 20 minute cards. You should be able to find calling cards that have several hundred minutes and are refillable at your grocery store, Target, WalMart etc.. You may have to search for them, but they should be there.

I got one at King Soopers (a year ago) that had 800 minutes, was refillable and was only $20. Many of them do deduct minutes just for placing the call so read the fine print.

Thank you Lynn for the info regarding calling cards

For Div 331, maybe it's the evening that they will call. I have only received one call in the morning so far. All of the others have been in the evening. As late as 10pm. I'm hoping 8:30ish meant PM!

I got calling cards from, callsforrecruits. All one word. He can assist you.

Ugh, hoping for a call today from Ship 12/Div 331....maybe it will be this evening, Running out for errands but got my phone with me as always! I need to get my son another phone card...any recommendations? I've had a hard time finding one that is not connected to a cell phone carrier. Found some on Scott AFB but it takes 14 min at the beginning of every call regardless of how long he talks. So if he leaves a 1 min. message - it subtracts 15 min time.

No call today from Ship 12 Div 331.  I had my hopes up when I heard they might be able to call this morning.  Hoping for a letter today!

The other day, I drove almost halfway to work before realizing I forgot my phone... I was very late getting to work that day.
