Nicole -- after I posted earlier, I was thinking about you more ..... and thinking about myself at 16 ..... the fact that you are so tuned into what you want and already making such enormous effort and strides towards it ..... almost gives me goose bumps ...... I doubt that I was thinking so much about my future and what I wanted at that age ............................. you impress me beyond measure ...... and I am rooting for you all the way.

Sondra -- hello, hello, hello!  Here is what I've been able to figure out.  This Family Cruise Day is for his specific ship ..... each Sailor can have up to 4 members of their family come on board.  I can't imagine that this is classified information, but they will take a cruise out to Catalina Island ..... how fun would that be?!  Shall we say ship names here, or not?  I guess you could private message me and I can tell you .... although I've mentioned it in the past, so you may know.  It is a chance to see the ship, learn a bit about it, meet other family, maybe see your Sailor performing their job ...... I have had to piece this all together.  The information is available through your Ombudsman Team for the ship.  I am still trying to get on the distribution list for the Ombudsman Team.  It requires your Sailor to go through a brief and easy training in order to get their Navy e-mail address.  Then you supply that e-mail address to the Ombudsman Team and they get your approved for the distribution list of information that families are allowed to have.  I don't have that from my son yet ..... and he's been on the ship since mid-November!  There may be more information, but I don't have it.  Are our Sailors on the same ship??

Mary, Mary, Mary ..... OMG do you make me smile.  The whole Peg Bundy thing is hilarious!  I bet I have Peg Bundy dreams tonight ...... and it sounds like you are ready to catch some gold too!  Waiting now on Iris to blow some out, er, send some our way!  Give that girl some beans!

AJ! oh how we have missed you!

Yes ma'am, loving every darn minute.

No, this December I will be!! SIGNING ON MY BIRTHDAY(: It's like

"Happy Birthday to me, you worked your ass off to prove you wanted it, you're finally here!"

Type of thing!!

Our dep recently combined with Davenport IA dep, so we all meet on the Arsenal for dep meetings now, which means ALOT of marching, ALOT of cadences, ALOT of termonalogy, and ALOT of pressure. Double the chiefs, Double the Petty Officers, Master Chief & Last week Commanding Officer came by to check us out..she said we looked "sharp"....Talk about feeling proud.

AJ tell me more about tha cruise this friday. I will be out there thursday to visit with Eric and he has not said anything about that. My older son is going with me and that would be great to do that.

Okay, okay, okay ...... Iris :) ...... still reading here, still sending you ALL the best of thoughts, wishes, prayers, etc. ..... as I've been licking my wounds as they say.

So the last time I wrote was when Aaron was home on leave and I had gone for a few days without seeing him.  I did get to see him most of the weekend before he left .... and I can't fault the kid for wanting to do more than hang with mom.  It was hard to have him leave and this time not know WHEN I might see him again.  Each time before so far, I've had something on the horizon that could aim for .... now the horizon seems out of sight and too far away ... I know, I sound so whiney, don't I?  I had really, really wanted to go out to San Diego for the Family Cruise Day this coming Friday.  I thought what a fantastic opportunity to see his new home and meet some of the other families .... and before Aaron went back he said, "Mom, yeah we need to talk about that."  In the end, because I was going to be coming by myself ..... he didn't want his "Mommy" showing up on the ship.  Dagger straight to the heart.  It was hard for him to say and it was hard for me to hear.  So, I have spent the past couple of weeks allowing it to sink in that as a 19-year-old new Sailor ..... he was making some necessary adjustments in individuation and separation.  Perhaps another year I can attend and it won't feel so embarrassing for him.

Now, on to you guys.  The news here has been amazingly good and I've been so happy for each of you.  Iris ... the last of your treatments is such a milestone .... and such a victory .... and such an accomplishment!  And then, to have Haley coming home now so soon ........... I get that you are on Cloud 9 ... and wow do you deserve it.  And whew .... you had me holding my breath for a little bit there with Travis' orders ....... but all things are working out for the good.  Congrats to Haley for her graduation and for all the good things coming her way!  I had to chuckle as I read your first Facebook posting about the Brown Cow nonfat vanilla yogurt .... dang that stuff is so good.  I just bought some in your honor today and will enjoy it a bit later.  I don't however believe that you busted out of your jeans ..... you'll have to post a picture of those jeans if you want me to believe it!

And Mary - Congratulations on your Petty Officer - Wow that was fast.  I loved the picture of him .... the little smarty pants.  There are so many families who have other siblings following in the footsteps of older brothers and sisters.  Good for your daughter that she is in such committed preparation for following her own dreams.  Keep warm girlfriend .... and keep us smiling with your sense of humor.

Nicole - sounds like you are doing all the right things and lovin' every minute of it.  Is it this summer that you will be an official Depper?  You are gonna rock.

Mrs. B -- are you okay?  Why were you bleeding and fainting?!  I'm so sorry that you didn't get what you needed as quickly as you needed it that day.  Do let us know how you are now and that all is back to normal.  Kisses to TJ.

Good to hear from you d o ...... I certainly can't say anything about your reading and not posting .... as I've been guilty of that for some weeks now ..... but we love hearing from you ..... Happy Belated Birthday!

I almost posted something back when there was a mini discussion about mentioning our Sailor's ships.  I understand completely about not posting details and specifics ...... and am on board to protect our Sailors ..... however, to not even mention the name of the ship is a bit silly, as every ship has it's own group and you don't hide your identity there ...... just seems silly that I can't say USS ######### here, but can go post on the USS ######### group .... know what I mean?

I can't see any other people on this page to know if I am missing someone in my individual comments ..... so if I did .... it's not intentional.

Oh, Iris, can you fire some of those rainbows and gold pieces toward Colorado .... just aim a bit south and east from you .... and what I don't grab ... I'll send on to Iowa!

Love and hugs to you all ........

mary - that would be THEEEEEE coolest!!

i don't see why they wouldn't talk to her. my recruiters talked to me.

i mean, no, they USUALLY wouldn't, but if she shows how wanting she is of it they will treat her like any other depper.

Ah.... that is more like it. Good Monday Morning one and all...

I hope you all had a fun filled weekend. I was laundry diva, dish washer extraordinaire, and grocery shopping goddess this weekend. Don't hate... someone has to have the honor. =)

Mary - Hiya! I will definitely pass on your message to Travis and Haley. I'm gonna need a little extra space on that cloud now that my butt has gotten so big. Lol....  20 lbs in 6 months. All that good eating.... Groan!  You cracked me up about the pot of gold. I hadn't thought of that. Wouldn't it be great to be financially independent even if it had to come shooting out your butt? Lol....One can dream.Oh and tell "butt-head" to stop rubbing in his nice weather, or else we'll all do the rain dance and ruin it for him. Lol.... The recruiters I think can talk to any age, but mostly concentrate on those eligible to sign up now or in the near future. With parent consent, a 17 year old can DEP in. We are making Cody wait till he's 18. It's a big commitment and we want him to be sure that's exactly what he wants to do for the next 4 years. Hope your daughter can look at all the pro's and con's objectively. She might want to just start working out with the Depper's, if they'll let her, to get a taste of what she will be in for physically. That's what Cody and his friend are doing. Anyhow, hang in there, it's a stressful ride and being a mom, you worry. =)

DO - Thanks for posting, even if I guilted you into it. Haley said it's been cold in Florida. She finally made it out to the beach on a semi-nice day and was frolicking in the water while Travis stayed on shore cause he said the water was too cold. Haley was tickled pink that the water was clear and warmer than anything we have in Oregon. Too bad she'll miss it during the summer, but then again, who can whine about going to Hawaii. Lol.....

Mrs. B - Thanks for the virtual Huge hug. One right back at ya. I swear, you have had a run of the troubles lately. Hang in there. You are a strong, spirited young mom who will survive. Wish it didn't have to be so tough on you. Know we are thinking of you and sending you our best thoughts and prayers. Keep smiling and vent any time, we are here!

Well, today I have to run some errands. I noticed yesterday that my CHL (Concealed Handgun License) expires today. Oops.... So renewing that and getting some bills off in the mail. Exciting, I know. Just had a cup of coffee, banana and an apple. Fiberlicious!!!  Now to get moving.

News Flash!!!!  It's not raining but cold and foggy. Nothing to bring up your spirits than a London-esk atmosphere. And wait, guess what color it is? Gray!!!  You guessed it. Everyone do the sunshine boogie so we can see that elusive yellow ball of happiness again. Us Northwesterners need it BADLY! Better go take another Vitamin D. =)

Love to you all and keep writing.

AJ - Gina - where are you?

Special hugs to Donda.. thinking of you and hope everything works out.

Hi Ladies...hope everyone is doing well. :)

I need to v.e.n.t... LOL. Sorry! But the other day I was really sick (bleeding really heavily...had fainted 3 times, one time coming down the stairs in our home, bruising myself pretty good) I thought I was miscarrying, even though I am not pregnant. I thought maybe I had gotten pregnant and didn't know it. Anyways, my husband asked his command to let him off to let him take me to the hospital and to help take care of our son. They would NOT let him go until like 3 hours later (after I lost a lot more blood and fainted one more time) after he'd done the routine drug test with everyone on the ship. It was SOOO disturbing and I was really upset.

Ok, now I got it out of my system.

How are all of you? LOL... hope you all are doing well.

Iris! SOOOO HAPPY for you that you're off the "juice!"  Congrats! Wish I were there to give you a HUGE hug!  I'm like bouncing inside!!!

Iris, so glad to hear ALL of your good news!  Rainbows and all.

Nicole, never heard of Lorraine before today, but OMG that was funny.

If you all are looking for some place warm, don't come to  Florida.  I'm wearing long johns!

I've been following all along, it's just posting that's the challenge.  Plus I'd rather hear about anyone elses life over mine.  Yes I just turned 49.  I hate it already.

Comment by iris - Wahiawa, Hawaii on January 22, 2011 at 1:38pm

Good News Ladies -- Travis is back on track for Hawaii. He had his big meeting and asked to remain in Communications. He has two tests to take and then he's home free. Haley and Travis are back on cloud 9. Lol....  10 more days till Haley comes home. I'm feeling better and better all the time now that I'm done with my chemical cocktail. Can't wait for week 3 off it. As my darling husband has said "you should be shooting rainbows out of your ass". I don't think I could of put it any better. Lol....

Just stopped in for a quick update. Post ladies, post! Reading my own posts is boring. =)

I'll even take a shopping list....

Hugs and have a great weekend.
