Girls! I've not forgotten about you! I did get to talk with Aaron (although not that first night as thought) .... he sounded better than great. He enjoyed being out for the certification exercise in preparation for their early 2011 deployment. He said it was mostly for the Marines, but was still interesting. He got to fire an M16 and got to work with the gunnersmates ...... and learned that if he gets to work with them as much as he hopes and gets one year of on-the-job training under his belt .... and can pass the test .... that he will not have to come back to A School for gunnersmates. He is already studying and things seem to be really falling into place for my boy. Apparently they just had their ship's Christmas party last night .... have not heard yet how that went. But, I had an amazing surprise .... he gets to come home again for 12 days before they deploy .... and he's coming home December 30!! I never would have guessed he was going to get leave again so soon (maybe it was the thing that had him assisting the local recruiter's and he got half of his leave back) .... but it doesn't matter ..... he gets to come home again!!! I can't even believe it yet. It sounds like the deployments are running about 7 months .... so it will be a while after this trip. What a surprise.
Nicole -- what a relief about the two packet cocoa. I know that you were losing sleep over this ... and ready to file charges against Swiss Miss for emotional trauma and breach of something or other. I hope it tastes extra special good now. I can't remember what I read ... did you double up on the marshmallows for that first cup after you figured it all out?!
Mary and Dyl's Mom are deep into basking in their Sailor motherhood. I hope that they are treating their mother's well and that you are getting time with them yourselves, even though there are lots of family and friends also demanding their share of time. That part is never easy. I remember at PIR weekend, when Aaron and I had some time alone with each other in the hotel room .... what he really needed was some sleep (he had been so sick) .... and I sat and watched him sleep and yes ......... took a couple of pictures of him sleeping. OMG ... we were crazy in those last days of boot camp.
Hurley -- You mention a bunch of doctor appts .... is everything okay? I hope they are just checking up on the stroke and making sure that you are healthy, rather than anything new. Be healthy girl .... be strong. So, I am now in Florida ... and I have to say that this is the coolest I have ever seen it here. We actually turned on the heat last night in the villa we are staying in. The rest of the family is arriving as I type this .... but I stayed behind because there wasn't room enough in the car. I said, no worries, go .... (secretly knowing that I wanted time to write you guys). So here I am. At least there is sunshine here though. You know Hurley, I had not considered that Mary needs to look out for her stove ......... maybe an alarm system is required during this visit??!
LynB - your daughter is home! Yay! I saw on the news that Australia has had some snow too? Where are you? Are you near any of that white stuff? And if so, that might be kind of cool as a bonus for Christmas! Enjoy your visit.
Iris - that is one adorable kitten. Sounds like Aubrey is joining a kitty heaven there at your place. What fun a kitten is ....... cute pictures. One more down in the countdown for chemo. Go Iris. Go Iris! When is that Astro wienee tree happening at your place? Can't wait to see it.
This is heaven .... sitting here with a glass of Pinot Noir and writing you guys. What a lovely quiet moment. I've lost track of what day of Christmas it is .... but decided it was kind of corny to post those pictures every day. But you never know ..... I may go holiday wild here in a little bit with this wine .... and post all of the catch up pictures that I started. I'm not one to start something and not finish it.
Hugs all around to each of you ..... may your hearts be merry and bright wherever you are ... whatever you are doing. And those with your Sailors home .... extra lovin' hugs to them tonight. Fa, la, la, la, la ........ la, la, la, la!
Hello everyone! Sorry I wasn't on for a bit, I had a bunch of doctors appointments all last week and then just trying to get ready for Christmas. I kept meaning to get on here but then something else would come up. I even feel asleep in the middle of a conversation with my DIL! Haha, she said I said I had to plug the dog in and she knew something was weird and looked at me and I was snoring, oh god, I am my mother now!
Aw Iris, the kitty is soooo cute.. I would love to have one but I am so allergic to cats. Dogs too but I bare with it for my little girl. I am happy you are almost done with Cemo. You won't have to be connected anymore! YAY! Have you heard anything from Haley? What will she do on Chrismas, will they have a diner for them?
I feel so stupid that I forgot Dereck and Dylan came home this weekend! Sorry Mary and Shelly (Dyl's Mom) I am really so happy for you and them. Now for some real food!!! Mary get that old apron out, you are going to be domestic for the next 2 weeks! And please keep an eye on that stove of yours, chances are he may try to smuggle off with him, hehe. Dylan gets a nice comphy bed with real matress and cozy sheets! So happy you will get time with him. These boys are in their glory now... fatten them bones up!
AJ I am so happy you heard from Aaron. So did he get sea sick? Probably no, those ships are so big but who knows. He'll get his sealegs sooner or later! I hope you are feeling well. I don't think I could handle the cold weather there in CO, I am a big baby here when the temp gets down to the 60's!
Happy you are with your daughter and her BF Lyn. It must be hard to be so many mile and hours away from your family. Maybe you will get good news soon!
Stay warm Nicole with your hot cocoa. Just ground up some organic natural cacoa (raw chocolate) and added it to my coffee, wow talk about some good coffee! Hmmm, think I'll have another cup!
Well, my husband and Matts brother Marc just got back from spending the weekend with Matt up in Kings Bay. They played golf (my guys were freezing) ate, drank and watched Football. They had a blast! It was a guy thing so I didn't go with them, I went shopping with DIL's and chilled, ALONE! No Testosterone all weekend! Was kinda nice.
Well have to make some phone calls, more drs, yuck and finish wrapping presents and have to clean oh and make another cup of chocolate coffee! Love you guys, {HUGS}
Iris -SHE'S SOOOOO FREAKING CUTE!
dyl's mom - Glad I wasn't the only one!:)
mary - don't worry:) she'll do just fine! tell her I said congrats! & drive safe!
Lol.... that hillarious Nicole and dyl's Mom. Glad you both figured them out. I wonder how many people get burned on that. Lol...... killing me.
So we got a new addition. Her name is Aubrey and she's 10 weeks old. Here's a pic. We are still acclimating her to the other ladies and gentlemen (Xena - alpha female black cat, Dot - white female with grey dots, Licorice - white & black female with 1/2 a mustache, Calvin - fluffly tabby and only male, and finally Ginger my pomeranian who is unsure if she's a dog or cat. Here's a pic or two of her. I think she fits perfectly in with our array of color scheme's. =)
that's so funny nicole because i did the same thing! i sent some up to dyl's and his roomies right before standdown and i couldn't figure out why some of the packets were so light and others were heavier. i finally pulled out the ol spectacles (ha) and realized each hot cocoa gets 2 pkts. one for cocoa and one for marshmallows! lol! i thought i was having a blonde moment there for awhile. thank goodness i never said anything out loud or my kids would still be laughing at me!
Iris, hope your treatment went well today!

So..i'm home alone..and it's snowing..I think..hey..i'm going to TRY to make hot chocolate again..HOPEFULLY it will have colored marshmellows this time...so..I go in the kitchen, pour some milk in a glass..get out the packet, and there are 2 packets put together with perferated edges to rip..so i rip one off..pour it in the glass. WALLAH! Colored marshmellows....NO COCOA....NONE! JUST marshmellows..soo..now i'm thinking..alright, Swiss Miss is really screwin with my mind...First, NO marshmellows..then NO cocoa...what gives! So i'm sitting there looking at the package..it reads "this package contains colored marshmellows"..then I thought about it..THE OTHER ONE HAS THE COCOA..so infact..there WAS colored marshmellows the first time around..my grandma failed to notice the same as I did! So, I put the other back in..and TADA! PERFECT hot cocoa..WITH colored marshmellows..
The first picture below..because I was excited about the colored marshmellows..soon to realize there was NO cocoa!

Nicole - you would be leading it, right? Lol.... Nice to hear from you Dyl's mom. So happy you have your sailor (aka baby) home. They will always be our babies, so just don't let him on this site to see this. Lol....
Off to my treatment. Have a great day ladies.
Glad that you showed up Dyl's Mom...I was gettin scared and preparing to send out the swat team!
Hey Girls! don't send out the posse! i'm here! i check in and read and always glad to see good news and get a laugh every now and again. don't have a whole lot going on but i do have my baby (he would shoot me if i said that to him) at home! soooooo happy and feeling so complete with him here. i try not to be a downer but already dreading the day he has to go back. i'm also feeling a little stingy with the time he spends with everyone else since i don't know when our next xmas together will be.
Glad everyone is doing well and happy that all our sailors are successfully adjusting to navy life. Keep posting so i have something to read! ok? Thanks for your dedication ladies and look forward to future posts!
