Good morning you N4M elves, Santas, and generally miraculous magical ladies! Ten days 'til Christmas. So how does that song work 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'? I assume that the first day of Christmas would be twelve days before Christmas? So, today would be the third day of Christmas in the song? If that is correct, then I would be giving you three french hens .... yes?
And since I didn't start this idea on time, here is the last two days! Two turtle doves .......
And a partridge in a pear tree!
That ought to put you in the spirit for the day.
Hugs, smiles, and Iris' rainbows, sunshine and lollipops ..... just in case you need them today!
Iris - it's swiss miss, sorry:) either way, they jipped my marshmellows! i thought about trying another pack yesterday, but decided i was still to angry at them!(:
So, yesterday was my 16th birthday...CHRISTIAN WAS HOME TO SEE ME. I freaked out. No joke. Still not together, not sure if we will be...but he's home for 2 weeks...hell, he kissed me last night and said "those damn puppy dog eyes".....(y'know, this sounds like a good advantage to use x)). So maybe i'll do that, just use it to my advantage. x) just kidding. but he's coming over later this week or early next, we're gonna watch despicable me...AGAIN(:
it's our favorite movie. We're unsure of what will happen, but just gotta take that road and see where life takes us!
Yay! Mrs B, finally you can live a real life now! Trust me, from what Matt says it's a whole different world when you are doing your real job and have your base. So happy for you! Oh, and you are stuck up there in GL's! AGGGG I saw on the news all the snow and my brother-in-law called and left a message his whole family is snowed in up there.
Great news Mary about the refund from United. Can't stand it anymore the way the airlines have us all by the B-lls! Sorry, guess you can take the Flight Attendant out of the plane but you can't...well, you all get the picture!
Such a nice picture AJ! I love Santa pics... I really love this one! I have to check into the picture of th day thingy too. I guess Aarron is busy if he didn't respond back. I know they work long shifts. He probably hits the bunk and falls asleep.
Oh Iris, I bet she has strep. I'm telling you with all the stress these kids imune systems just wear down. They catch everything! Hmmm, do you think I live in the mid-west? Just curious cause of your post to me. I actually liv in South Florida but it feels like it could be the mid-west...well to me! My son said he went to work this morning and went to wash his windows and his windshield stuff froze! And then his fiance said the same thing and then everyone was saying it! It was 27o here this morning! So I wouldn't be surprised if we lose a few trees. I have my heat set at 74o and the fireplace going. Only like the cold weather woredrobe and that's about it! I know you guys get alot of rain but that's great your mountains are frozen. It is so pretty there I bet.
MMMM, hot cocoa, I think I will make some for myself right now Nicole!
Mrs B -- that is just fantabulous news! Congratulations to him for his completion. I know you are ready to leave, and that there have been some really hard and challenging days .... but look at you now! .... look at your family now! When you arrived, he had all of boot camp and A school to get through and you had a baby to deliver ............. and now you have TJ ..... and he is finished ..... and you are going home and picking up your things ,,,,,,, and Hoo Yah on your way to CA! That is some huge accomplishment .... and you guys all did it! Life is good and God is good. Stay in touch with us here and let us know how you are doing. :)
My hubby finished A-school today and we will be leaving this cold winter wonderland on Thursday morning for Texas to get our stuff, then leave from there to go to CA! :) YAY! Finally, gonna have my hubby again. My heart has had all it can handle of being away from him. So it's coming just in time! :)
Good Morning! Well the weather man says we are heading into another cold snap. On the up side, Snow in the mountains means no flooding. I don't know how you guys stand it when it's 20 below normal. I don't think I could make it, especially now with my cold neuropathies. Lol... that would be fun - NOT!
AJ - Awesome photo. I'll have to look into the Photo of the Day thing. I do get other Navy updates, but I'm not getting awesome photo's of Santa in a Seahawk Helicopter. Yeah!!! Haley's throat is NOT better and she has an apt. today to see medical. I think it's strep or something like that, but we'll see. I did get to Skype with her yesterday for 30 minutes by chance. She was taking a break from her mods and was going to go to bed early again. She's just plain wore out and she needs to just try and get these last mods out of the way but take care of herself too. I feel better now that she's going to medical. Thanks for the good vibes AJ. =) And I'm doing okay. I too will make it through these last few treatments. A friend of mine Mom just passed away after two years of chemo. It's so critical to catch this shit early. I don't like sadness and my heart goes out to those who loose their fight. Anyhow, depressing, so moving on. We want Rainbows, Sunshine and Lollipops. Aaron, Aaron, Aaron, what am I going to do with that boy. You give me the word and I will track him down and tell him he's not holding up his end of the bargain. Mom's love, worry, care for, there children for a lifetime which obligates the kids to keep in touch. That's the deal. =) Apparently Aaron missed the memo. Hope you hear from him soon.
Mary - Glad United made good on there error. I just hear that all the extra baggage charges and such have netted the Airlines some $billion dollar amount of profit. I don't recall the exact amount, but it was substantial. I'm just saying, with that kind of profit and subsidies from the American people, these guys can fly our service members around for free. When I'm dictator.....lol! Sometimes I wish someone with an ounce of common sense would get elected. We have a Congress, Senate, Federal Reserve and White House full of idiots and greedy bastards/bastardesses. Apparently I'm on a roll. Lol... sorry. Okay, not the greatest segway but 4 more days. How are you even able to handle that much happiness. Give him a huge hug for all of us Navy Mom's. So happy for you Mary. Can't wait to hear all about the holiday adventure with you and your son. I'm sure it won't be dull. =)
Nicole - If someone say's it's not the little things in life that matter, they are WRONG. A good cup of coco can make or break the day. =))))) And I have never had Swiss Valley. Do share, is it chocolatier, creamier, just damn good? Where can I get some it?
Hurley - OMG, I've been watching the news and it looks down right arctic in the Midwest. Ack! No thank you. Right now I'm sitting in front of the best heater in the world and it's in the mid 50's outside. And.... wait for it.......SOGGY! I know, shocker. Lol.... Hope you guys warm up soon. We are expecting a cold front to move in which will help with all the flooding. Nothing new in the Pacific Northwest. We flood damn near every year. Crazy! Did I mention, soggy? Lol... Anyhow, hang in there and stay warm and safe.
Not much else to report. Haley is still hanging in there and hopes to be done by the end of Christmas break. She's starting to get a little nervous about Travis's order's. She so want's him to get Hawaii. If not, she said "Mom, I think I'll get my heart broke if he doesn't get Hawaii". The ups and downs of love can be difficult. Well, my fingers are crossed he does get it and they can have more time.
Okay, Happy Day Ladies! Hope to read more of the exciting, every day lives of Navy 4 Mom mom's. =)))) Hugs!
One more thing. Did you guys ever sign up for the Navy Photos of the Day? They come in almost every day and include pictures from all around the world. I've been on the lookout of course from any from the Boxer, but none yet. It is really worth getting these pictures. Some are very cool.
Did you know, by the way, that Santa flies in Seahawk Helicopters? That must help with deliveries! Ho! Ho! Ho!
Mary -- it does my heart good and brings such a smile to my face to hear your excitement. I'm glad that United stepped up in this situation, as $156.70 amounts to some Christmas presents for sure .... and YAY that Dereck is home in just 4 days. You must be almost giddy! So, so happy for you.
Hurley -- the permission I was referring to had to do with my requesting through the Ombudsman contacts I have for Aaron's ship to be added to the family distribution e-mail list. They have to have Aaron's permission to add me .... I can't do it. I have read that if one is visiting the base with intentions of getting on base, that you need to get a permit (similar to the process we had to do when we went to PIR), along with the proof of insurance. So, I'm not sure what Matt's brother might need to do. It depends on if he is meeting Matt outside of base, or plans to get in. The same seems to be true if you are hoping to get onboard a ship for any of the celebratory events (Family Christmas parties, Family Cruise Days, etc.). I would definitely have Matt inquire what his brother might need to do before arriving.
Iris -- is Haley's throat any better? She's in the final push now, isn't she? Kind of like the end of boot camp. I'm sending her all good vibes to get through these last mods. And how are you feeling?
I have not heard a peep from Aaron since they went out on the exercise. I must check my e-mail 100 times a day hoping for a brief note. Nada. I left him a voice mail on his cell the day before yesterday, just to tell him I loved him. I know he won't get to listen to it until he returns, but I needed to tell him just the same.
We are going into the mid 60s today here in Colorado, so I'm appreciating that very much given all the cold and snow around the country. Lots of snow in the mountains here, but little to none down here. I need to find some breakfast here, so will check in later.
Oh Iris...you know EXACTLY how I feel!!!!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
Swiss Valley!!!!!!
Ok,I don't mean to sound like a little pansy or anything but it's FRIGGIN FREEZING HERE! 20o below normal for this time of year. I'm gunna lose my fruit trees and coconuts. My yard will be bare. Just had 2 huge palms removed this weekend from a lightning strike (happened right before Matt went to BC) it arced to my house and caught my attic on fire but no damage done just hit my A?C and Matt and his brother rewired and fixed it.
Mary, yo are too much. I am happy you got your basement done. Now come to my house and paint it! I give up on it, 3 years of renovations and it will never get done. You will see me on one of those cable channels with a falling down house and junk in the yard and NO trees. So happy you'll have D with you soon. He'll head right for the fridge, mock my words!
AJ, What did you mean by getting permission? I don't know all this. To go on the ship or the base? Matt's brother will go up there to visit Matt this weekend so does he need to be on a list or something?
I know Iris how you feel about freaking out when it comes to something wrong with our kids. These kids are so worn out with all the've been through. Between BC then "A" school and all the studying. I guess their immune system just goes into shock, all those needles and vacinations and.... wow, alot. I can see how you're escpecially worried though.
Well, thank you all for congrats on Matt's badge. It is like Mary says "shiney"!
