Nicole, it must of been those bikini pictures;)
AJ, I don't think I can wait, I've been praying for you all weekend. What is going on?!
Iris courage and strength to you on chemo day...just a few more weeks.
I remember how you guided us through grad and go. Now you're showing us how to do holidays.
Mrs. B take a page from Iris book and start looking for the good in things. Good jobs are hard to come by in this economy. Start thanking God you've got a man that's got a job and wants to work. AJ son is already on the water, at least you've got maybe a year. Keep your chin up. Your man will be happy to see you happy.

Iris - you continue to lead the way in courage, resilience, and picking oneself up by the boot straps - you show the way for those of us facing Christmas without our Sailor, from decorating the tree for the first time without them, to adjusting all expectations to something that will be delivered 'later', rather than when we are so used to having it. This is what makes a Navy Mom/Wife a warrior herself. So here is to all Christmases that will happen just as magically and perfectly in January or February or ........

A's ship went underway today for a pre-deployment exercise of some kind - wow - so hard to believe he will be out on the sea today. In that odd way that time has of playing with our minds and hearts, it still feels like yesterday we were all stumbling out way through boot camp with each other.

I have to head out for an appointment, but will come back on later today to share a bit after Friday's brain stuff appointment. Hugs to all.

Yes, possible soon-to-be again bf:)
I told him I demanded it be in person x)
He was like..who made you queen...I was like..well...that's just how it works..I wear the pants Cx He got a kick out of that for sure.
We'll see what happens!
I won't be devestated if we don't get back together, it would be pretty nice though.

Morning! Well I'll be Skyping with Haley at 1500 our time because she was out with the BF last night so asked if she could reschedule. =) That makes me smile cause she's having fun. I put up some of our Christmas decorations. I have the dining room and part of the living room all done. Now for the Christmas tree. My son, Cody, got the tree out of the box and fluffed it for me. So all I have to do is put the lights on then the ornaments. I'll take a photo of it when I'm done. Hey, everyone ought to post their holiday decorations.

Mrs. B - Unfortunately what the recruiter says isn't a promise. You have to get everything in writing. This I learned from my sister who's husband was in the Army 20 years. They went through something similar. So to help you cope with the turn of events, try to just forget everything they said to you. I'm soooo... sorry they did this to you. So much is put on you and that is difficult with a new little one. Hang in there, know we are here for you anytime and try to find something to smile about when you can. Hugs hon!!!!

Nicole - hmmm... soon to be again BF, that's encouraging. =) Keep us posted. I'm glad you guys are trying to work things out.

Lyn - Good day!!! Lol.. oh I'm sorry to laugh but what was the DJ thinking? Glad you've heard from your son. =)

Well, enjoy the rest of the weekend. I've been lazy and now need to get started on my day.

Oh my...I'm so sorry Mrs. B...hang tight sweetie...My ex/possible soon to be again bf/best friend who is at great lakes a school got a deployment date as well..and he's still in school:( and he doesn't get to come home for christmas break....they definitely suck at keeping promises..mine's headed to pearl harbor then off to somewhere else in january...so let's hope you get pushed until late december..then pushed again...then pushed back again...y'know..so you have more time. The drive to texas is grueling..but personal opinion, go through missouri and down through oklahoma. i drove to and from texas(as south as you get, port isabel and back to the quad cities) and we took a differant route each way and that was the fastest way and had the most rest stops so you can feed the little one. going through arkansas is kinda like driving in the middle of nowhere. haha.
if you need anything...you know..vent..or ask..i'll help out best i can!!
Comment by Mrs.B_Div 302_Ship9 on December 5, 2010 at 3:31am
Well ladies, I've been told it's ok to vent here...so here I go; I just found out my husband will be deploying either at the middle of next year, to late next year. I'm like, HEAVEN HELP ME...he's not even out of school yet, why are they giving him a deployment date? I don't understand and I'm really, REALLY hating the Navy right now. I am trying so hard for my DH's sake to be positive and not down his job, but seriously, I am wishing I never had to see a uniform again, and never had to hear the word "Navy" again in my entire life. They keep breaking their promises to us (like moving us to CA, now I"m going to have to drive from Texas to CA with a baby, stopping every 2 hours to feed him) My hubby can't drive because he's not allowed to drive until he gets to his first duty station, so the complete weight is on my shoulders, and that's just the drive from Texas to CA, I have to drive from IL to Texas to get our stuff (where we lived before the Navy happened). Sooo, yes, I"m frustrated, I'm angry and I really wish we could get out. After all, they have breached their contract with us, I believe we could easily get out with my hubby getting an honorable discharge, since it isn't our fault they haven't kept their word to us.

Awww Iris - I'm sorry she can't make it home. Another part of the letting go process we are forced to endure :(

And AJ - please keep us posted. Many good thoughts going out to you.

Mary - I'm pretty sure our boys must have something in common with the bad luck!

Alex sent me a skype message yesterday saying they were having the command Christmas party but with the WORST DJ ever...started off with music from Titanic (oh yay - sinking ships) and then went to Mad World. Not exactly uplifting stuff for sailors ya think? He continues to make me laugh with his wry observations.

Hang tight everyone!

Good Morning - Happy weekend! It's Civil War day here. Oregon Beaver's vs. Oregon Duck's. Our house sits on the main road into Corvallis where the game is being held. Lot's of fans come in to see the game. It's huge!

DO - thanks for the encouraging words. It is heart breaking, but I've pulled myself up by my boot straps and we are looking forward to January. She is going to Skype during the parties so she can participate in the white elephant gift exchange and chat with everyone. Keep you finger's crossed we have a good connection on Skype so we don't get a lot of drops. =)

Not much is going on. My sister is coming down for a play date with my son and I'm trying to finish up my Christmas shopping before chemo on Monday.

Hope everyone enjoys this time of year and ignores the humbugs out there.

Hugs!!!!

Mrs. B I heard it different: If you can't say something nice, at least say something FUNNY! Good luck on your move.

AJ I'm praying for you.

Iris it's heartbreaking, you're so brave to make the best of it. What a sweet mother's heart to want better for her. Isn't being with you the best for her? I know, I know you are being unselfish.

Oh Mary what a nightmare, before Christmas!

Morning Ladies -

Well it's confirmed. Haley will NOT be home for Christmas. She would have had to have all 30 of the mods done by today. It was too much to ask of her, so I said, take your time and finish them up without the time limit stress. She looked so wore out, and that's not what I want for her. she and I were disappointed but we are trying to change gears and get our minds focused on when she will be here, which should be sometime in January.

AJ - My thoughts and good vibes are going out to you. What's going on? If they did a neurological brain evaluation on me, well let's just say I might be wearing a little huggy jacket where it's arms tie in the back. ;) I so hope everything comes out well for you. Hugs and we hope to hear from you soon. You'll be in my thoughts... =)

Oh and I'm glad you liked the Astro Wieenie Tree. We are making one for our family get together on the 30th. I'll post pics. It's going to be.... wait for it.....Legend..........wait for it.......dairy!!! I so love "How I met your Mother and Barney".

Well a foggy day today, but Happy Friday to you all. I hope your weekend goes well.

Mrs. B. - Hang in there. Remember the saying "you are never given more than you can handle". Keep your head up and your chin out and smile like your the luckiest woman alive, cause you really do have so much to smile about. Hugs!!!!!

Nicole - your an animal, busy, busy, busy.... Thanks for the bikini comment. We'll see, just depend on how the get the ol' body back in shape after I'm done, goes. I'd like to think I will be ripped.... If it was just that easy. Think it and it is done. Wow, I'd be stunning. Lol..... Keep up the good work, and don't forget to have fun!!!!!

Mary - I'm so happy you will be getting your son home. Sorry about all the bs. Shesh!!! Hugs to you. United does owe you guys a refund. I hope you get it. All the airlines should let our service members travel free. What they give up and do for our freedoms.... get's me fired up when I see how indifferent people can be to our service members. Anyhow, hope it all works out for you guys and you have a wonderful visit. =)

Side note: Here's a project I think we can all do. When you are sending out your Christmas cards, add a few to these worthy men & women.

Please send cards to:

A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue
NW Washington, DC 20307-5001

Let them know that we haven't forgotten what they have done for us.

Okay, I'll step off my soap box.

Hugs to you all. I'm going to try to get my Christmas decorations up without crying this weekend. Haley wanted to do them with me, but now I need to just get them up before our Christmas parties. Bittersweet.

Have a great weekend and don't let the stress get to you. It's a season of Joy and Love. =)
