Morning Ladies -

AJ - Soooooo.. Happy for you right now. Can't wait till mine is home in a few months. =))) Enjoy every second of it and thanks for sharing.

Dyl's Mom - I got my DVD too and yes, mixed emotions. I just remember the feeling when they called liberty. Oh.. wow... that was so great getting that first hug. I'm going to look into the blue star flag thing. Sounds cool. I let everyone know if I find the site you were talking about.

Hurley - Ohhhh... get better soon. Gargle with some nice warm salt water. Really does work. Glad you son is better, but can't have you getting ill. If not one pipes in with two more numbers how about you and I throw out another just in case? I'll take 28 (it was a good year for me... lol) so we have 3,6,11,13 and 28 (or if someone else has a number that hasn't chosen already, throw that up so we know for tomorrow what ones to choose) and Hurley? So tomorrow November 1st buy your lottery ticket for powerball or your state lottery. You never know, this could be our lucky day? Wouldn't that be something. Lol....

Yesterday's company was great. I got to meet my friend wife and new baby. I got to hold little Aliana for quite a while. I do miss that. My babies are all grown up now. Sigh! Anyhow, we had a great time and then I made peanut butter rice crispies with butterscotch & chocolate, brownies with butterscotch & chocolate chips and Ass Kickin' baked beans. Actually my son made the beans for me while I did the other ones. We are heading up to my father-in-laws today to spend some family time together and visit with his girlfriend to get to know her better. Should be a nice day with good food and family I like. =)

Hugs to all, Happy Sunday and Happy Halloween!!!!

Happy weekend everyone. Watching FB, of course. Woke up in the night with a swollen throat. Not a big del, just a bit sore but enough to be annoying. Could be wors, could always be worse... my son has the flu but went on a Z pack right away and i much better. Mine is just a sore throat so no anti's for me, right now. Gotta get some more numbers!!!. My palms are itching and that means money!

Happy Bday Dereck! I think I said this already but here it is again. Mary, hope your feeling better.

AJ so happy you have your son with you now and everyones playing nice, that has to be very hard to deal with. I give you all credit. Matt had to drive the squad car the other day and it felt weird to drive also for the first time.

Iris hope it all goes or went well with your company. Have fun. Hope your daughter has a grea time with her new bow.

Hi Girls! Just doing a quick fly through...have a couple of things going on right now...but just wanted to say Happy Birthday to Dereck and of course belated to Matt! Our boys are growing up! Mary and AJ, i hope you both start feeling better! being sick sucks! AJ, so excited for you having your baby home! You sound like you're having a blast! I miss mine! I received the DVD yesterday and i've already watched it. Made me proud and sad all at the same time!

speaking of DVD's- Mary, did you get your zumba dvd yet? just wondering if it was worth a flip. i would like to get one but thought maybe i would wait to see what you thought of it.

Oh yeah, i have one of those blue star flags! I have it hanging in my front window. There is a site you can go to from Cambridge University?? that sends them out for free. It's way cool! i signed up for it about 2 months ago and just got the flag last week. I saw the website here on n4m's but i don't remember where. maybe on the bootcamp mom's or this one. i don't remember....heck, i don't remember what i had for dinner yesterday! ha!

I don't have any lucky numbers for you....obviously mine don't work! i'll let you know how my same old numbers work since i don't think i'll have a chance to get to the store today.....ugh!

ok...gotta get back to the real world..... boooo!! talk to ya soon!

I just had the best morning with Aaron! We made some of his favorite breakfast food. I'm cooking at his dad's house so we can all be together. So far playing nice and making favorite food going well with ex. Quiet relief.

He's driving a car for the first time since
mid-July - funny how he's a little hesitant. We are out running some errands for him .... and it is oh so nice to be doing normal things again. AND, having him at home is so much nicer than time in Great Lakes.

I am happy to my core! I am typing this on my I-Phone so forgive any typos.

Morning Ladies -

AJ - you have your some home.... HOOYAH, Bravo Zulu baby!!!! Enjoy, we don't expect to hear much while he's home, but you better fill us in after he goes back. =)

Okay so the lottery deal will be for Monday November 1st to buy and numbers are so far 3,6,11 and 13, so we need two more numbers. Who hasn't thrown one in? Powerball is 5 & 1 and I suggest put them down in any order you feel like. Okay, so we need two more numbers by someone who hasn't already contributed. Yay... I hope someone wins something. That would be too fun. =)

All is silent on the daughter front. She must be having a great time with her new boyfriend Travis. I will get to talk with her on Monday. Halloween dance and whatever she's been up to since I talked with her last Sunday.

Well, I have to keep this short. A friend is coming over with his wife and baby that I've never met yet, so I need to shower and get ready.

Have a great weekend and let's get two more numbers for the lottery! =)

Hugs to all...

A is at the airport waiting, waiting, waiting for his flight out of O'Hare. They shuttled him to the airport 8 hours before his flight. Oh well. He is on his way home!

Hi Hurley - so here is the history of the Blue Star Mothers, which seems to have been formed in 1942: http://www.bluestarmothers.org/mc/page.do?sitePageId=64194&orgI...

And this website shows that the flags go back to first being used in WWI.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Service_flag

It all seems to tie together by theme of a red bordered flag, white background, and stars indicating number of sons (and now daughters!) serving - and to bring them home safely. I've only started reading about it, so there is so much more, I'm sure. Sadly, the gold star seems to indicate one who has died in service.

If you google Blue Star Mothers, you will find a list of their information, flags, jewelry from WWI to present day that mothers are wear indicating one, two, even three stars indicating sons/daughters in the military. There is stuff on e-bay as well. Have fun checking it out and let me/us know if you learn anything about what you have or more about what it is.

There is also a website for Blue Star Moms, but it was established in 2001 and seems to be a lot about care packages, etc. -- which is also great - but different maybe than Blue Star Mothers. I need to spend more time reading it.

AJ, I have a few blue stars and my husbands grandfathers WWl uniform in pefect shape. He went over to europe, he was a corpsman. We have his diary's and all. very interesting stuff. So is their a web site on this blue star moms I can go to?
Comment by AJ on October 29, 2010 at 4:40pm
Oh yes, and Happy Birthday Dereck! And belated birthday wishes to Matt. Giving up time with our Sailors for birthdays and holidays is just no fun. :( And Mary, you get Christmas!!! What a great present for you all.

I bet Hurley that the blue star ladies were the origin for the blue star mothers. How cool that you have some of the blue star stuff. If you have one with one star, you could use them for Matt.
