Morning Friends !!

D is going to try and be a Psych Tech being that his major is going to be Psychology when he starts college. Corpsman do NOT always work with the marines. They are all required now to train with the marines but that does NOT at all mean they are attached to them. They want all Corpsman ready in case they are in need for them over in the " sandbox"....there are MANY different options for Corpsman. The better they do in A school, the better the orders they get. D also wouldnt mind going to a ship and going on humanitarian type trips like to Haitii etc. Today is his and Cories BF's first Corpsman test. Hope they both do well. Here is a link that describes a Corpsmans job
http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjob1/a/hm.htm

So, whats everyone doing this weekend ? We have a Cub Scout Rain Regatta race to go to in the morning, and then to a Fall Festival. Im going to be packed for our trip by today so thats behind me and I can enjoy the other things.
Have a wonderful day my friends. Hugs to all

Dyl's Mom- LOL!!! I had to laugh at the picture taking thing...I asked my hubby the same thing and he was all quiet for a second then was like, "OMG, honey, that would be SO embarrassing...the guys would think I'm weird." LOL...soooo, I guess guys aren't into taking those crazy shots like girls are. :)

Hey AJ! Slide a margarita down to me! :) It really is nice hearing from everyone! yippee!! Iris, I hope your treatments don't have to go into the holidays but even if they do, you know you'll be in our prayers!!
All this talk about siblings possibly going into the services.... my youngest who is 16 is thinking about it. We talked a little about corpsman but when I found out that they travel with the Marines, I wasn't so sure I wanted him to go that route. It's really his decision and he still has 2 years to decide but I really think he'll try going Navy. We'll see....

Good job Nicole on the grades! Keep it up! Life will be so much easier if you put forth the effort now.

So I was talking to Dylan every night and I think he and I were both running out of things to discuss. Well, except for what he had for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So I told him that if he had things to do, not to worry about having to call. I figured I could make it through a couple of days without him. When I finally talked to him today, I told him I had sent him a box with some of his clothes and some snacky foods and I told him to share with his roomies. Then I made the fatal mistake of asking him if he could take a pic of him with his roomies on his cell phone and send it to me.... OMG...you would have thought i asked him to run naked across the compound! He said "MOM, NO WAY...I'm NOT gonna go up to my roomies and say Hey, my Mom wants your picture. That's not going to happen!!!".... so i guess it did sound a little silly after I thought about it. I guess because i'm a girl, i figure they all make friends and hang out and watch movies and eat popcorn and take pics and post them on their facebook pages. Guess I don't know that much about boys afterall...... hmmmmmm. Back to the drawing board.........

WOW Nicole, keep up the good work!

Maureen, I know kids bounce back quick, but it's us moms that are traumatized. I could barely stand it when they put them under. I think that is mom boot camp. Keep the faith, we'll be watching and waiting to hear how you both weathered the storm.

Iris, will you be finished by the holidays? God bless you and keep you in these last weeks. When my husband was scheduled to leave Vietnam, they would say, "hey, you're on the short calendar!"

Maureen! One jack and coke coming right up!! Anyone else ready?

I'm loving these long catch ups. I know life is full for everyone out there - but this is lovely!

Hello Friends !!!

Iris, you have been through so much girl. You are an inspritation to us all. Youre always in my prayers :) My 16 yr old is considering the Navy but I dont know how serious that is. You guys know I love ALL my kids but this son I am very close to , its easy to just like and be around Daniel so I think I may be more of a basket case if he does go. We'll see what the future holds. He has to follow his path in this life.
Im ready for the full bar.....I'll have a jack and coke please :)
D and I havent done the skype thing and Ill tell you why....I am trying to give him his space to study. He has been studying very hard and I dont want to interupt that. We will skype once he goes out to the fleet.
His first test is tomorrow.....and of course Im nervous for him. Here goes another roller coaster ride....weeeeeeeeeeeeee lol
Hurley....let us know when you do where Matt will be stationed. I have a long ways to go until that. A school Corpsman graduation wont be till end of Jan.
Glad he is doing so well.
AJ...so glad that you will be spending A's birthday with him. Cant wait to see pics and hear the stories. With that type of ship AJ, he will get to see some great ports when they leave on a west pack. ( A cruise 6-8 months long). He will see places like Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and even Austrailia if they stay out longer.
Thank you all for the prayers for Robert. I appreciate that so much. I will have lap top with me in St Louis, so I will up date everyone. This is like his 8th surgery I believe, and so he's used to all this now. He will do 1/2 days at school next week and then he will be good to go full time. Kids bounce back so fast !!
Mary...I know how you feel. I at least get some texts from D everyday, and then I would say phone calls about 2 times a week. As I said earlier though, I wouldnt be upset if he didnt call all the time...I want him to concentrate.
Getting A's opens up doors for you and if more parents/grandparents motivated their loved ones, we would have more graduates.
Corie...soon can say " Howdy Neighbor " :))
Hugs to everyone

Thanks AJ! I'm tryin! I personally think part of it attributes to Cheif getting on me telling me I need to pull the best grades I can for this last year and a half! I'm gonna do it!
Comment by AJ on October 7, 2010 at 1:36pm
Wow Mary! That is incredibly awesome that you hear from your son every night, AND that he does the grade and book club with his brother and sister. You must feel so good about all of that. I am impressed with your Dereck!

Way to go on the A's Nicole!

I'm outta here for some errands - see you all later.
