That is such a neat idea Mary(the book thing)

Hey, if no one gets on you about your grades you'll never work to your fullest.
First hand, I know this. My grandma is on my back ALL THE TIME about grades, and this year now that she's not letting up, I have all A's.

Iris - I meant to also say that it is difficult for a 16 year old to appreciate that need to connect, and then when you add on that need to not look or be a certain way, especially a 'mamma's boy' - it doesn't add up to lots of contact from these young men. I hope that he is able to see the joy and peace that the phone calls from H bring you and that maybe, just maybe, by then he can do more than the negotiated twice a month. I swear this letting go thing is not easy. I am sending you an extra long hug just 'cause!

Woo Hoo! Look at everyone feeling the 'invitational come back vibe' from our great group and checking back in and posting! This feels so very good to be hearing from more of you guys. I have been wondering if my missing this group so much was indicative of a major psychological disorder ..... but, nah, I just miss the connections we made and knowing that there was still someone out there who knows the joys and challenges we experience.

Michelle - I had to look up who Marie Baronne was! I can't believe I forgot her. Can't imagine you like her - no, not at all.

A big shout out to Hurley! D.O.! Iris! Michelle! Corie! Maureen! Mary! Dyl's Mom! Maureen! Mrs. B.! PatsProudMom! Nicole! Hello! Hello!!! And hello to anyone I've forgotten who has posted over the last couple of days! And okay, hello to everyone who has not posted, who has not returned for a visit. Here comes another vibe for all of you to come back and join the party here. Wine and cheese at 6:00 p.m. Oh heck, make it Full Bar!

A is doing well and is eager to be complete with A School. Since he is undesignated, his school is just a month, and he graduates on October 25. Then he is off to San Diego and his ship, the USS Boxer, which is an amphibious assault ship. He took undesignated to get into the Navy more quickly (so impatient to spread those wings and fly!). He wanted this type of ship and hopefully he will find a good match for a rate that will allow him to be his best. (Oh, wait, isn't that another branch of the military 'Be The Best That You Can Be" or was that "Be All That You Can Be" - I think the Army).

Can't wait to see him tomorrow night. Can't believe that he is turning 19 on Sunday. I'll have my laptop with me and will check in here.

Iris - I was just going to write you to ask how you were doing and how much longer you were doing treatments. That is good news that they can cut out something that causes you increased disturbance in feeling good. 8 more treatments is an end in sight! I find myself praying often for you and so many from this group as well as our Sailors. And I could not agree more with the fact that we will need each other with the upcoming holidays. You guys will have to kick me out before I will go away. I still check every day and try to write something almost every day.

D.O. - I know it has been hard on a few moms to not hear from their Sailors as often as they would like and appreciate your appeal for expressing and getting real about that. I have to admit that I am one of those too. We do talk, every week. He has not initiated a Skype video call with me and I'm a bit disappointed about that. We do text. We have always been so very close and he used to tell me so much about his days, his thoughts, feelings, etc. It is a challenging adjustment to not know much at all these days. And I suppose that having less now will help me to have even less when he is at sea.

Okay, how was this for rambling?!!?!

Hey all, I am so happy to see this group again. how much I missed it until I came back. Just like a reunion. I was just thinking about you Iris, I Am happy all is going well. Wow all your kids will be in the military, that is so great!

Michellle, Happy LUCKY THURSDAY to you!

My prayers are with you and your son. It is never easy when it comes to our kids when they are ill or hurting. Guess that's why mothers are so special.

Matt's doing great in "A" school. just got a sharp shooter ribbon. He'll find out sometime next week where he will be stationed. Kinda exciting. I just sent a box of clothes to him. Next week he should be able to wear them s he is excited about that.

I miss everyone! I need to finish my chicken soup but will be back, promise!

Hi all, I'm back as promised.

So my son (16 yrs old and considering the Marine Corp) informed me last night that he wouldn't be calling if he goes in to the Corp. I bargained with him and we settled on twice a month I'd get a call once he was out of boot camp, IF he was able to call. Oh sigh! My husband told my son of a guy who promised his mom a weekly call when he was in the Corp and they teased him something awful (Mamma's Boy) because he kept his word to her. So, that may be why the men aren't calling. Men! Really!

My daughter on the other hand Skype's me about twice a week and we love, love, love it. =) Apparently it's okay if girls keep in touch with there mothers. Lol...

So, I'm really happy this group is staying together. I can't wait to hear where everyone's Sailor's are stationed once they graduate A school. H. is wanting overseas (Japan, Sicily, etc...). I hope she gets it. She's working very hard to do well in A school. She want's to graduate as a honor guard.

Update on my chemo, I'm chugging along. They are reducing one of my chemical cocktail ingredients because some of the side effects are getting pretty bad, so I'm hoping this next treatment will be a little easier. Only 8 more to go. Still smiling!!!!

With the holidays coming up I think we are going to need each other even more. So I expect each of us to check in at a minimum of once a week. =) Lol... look who's getting all bossy here. Sorry, I should of said, it would be nice.

Okay, I'm writing a ton and really just sort of babbling on.

Take care and don't forget to check in. =) LOL...

Hello! I, too, have been MIA of late. Things have been crazy busy and three sick male species in my home. You think you're allergic to them now, Mrs B, just wait...

A couple of you asked for copies of the picture order form. My computer died and I lost lots of stuff and no longer remember who it was. If anyone is still looking for those, please message me or email me directly at dinnerbythebook@gmail.com and I'll get them to you right away.

Maureen - your family will be in our prayers. That is an adorable picture!

My son is loving Navy life. He spent the day at the Pentagon today and had a great time. I am very busy trying supress my not so inner Marie Barrone. I give myself a D+ this week and the plus is only for the extremem effort I know I made but may not have shown.

Well hello everyone! Just a quick shout out to y'all. Praying for Robert and Mrs.B. Have a safe move Corie. Glad you're having a good day Iris, I know how precious those are.

Thanks for the mom that was real enough to admit these sailors aren't calling as often as we would like. ("Text me mom, I'm at the mall w/ my buddies") The nerve of them growing up without us!
