Hi proud navy mom - I wish that I could confirm what you had heard was true. Sadly that was not the case and it is a tragedy that breaks my heart for all concerned. Out of respect for the families and the content concerns on this site, I will just say that one life ended and another life took a huge departure from course. :(

AJ, I just heard that the stabbing was with a ball point pen and barely a scratch and that they are alright. Still a tragedy but it sounds like you heard something worse. Am I correct? That's great about your son. My daughter just got to start ATT classes and won't start GM school till the end of the month if everything opens up.

Hey Iris! Come back here any time ... in fact, all the time! We love you. I hope you are feeling better and that your energy has returned this week.

A ended up classing up almost a month earlier than planned in Great Lakes. I have no idea why, but he graduates the day he was supposed to have begun A school later this month. It was so hard to read and hear about that unfortunate stabbing at GL ... and that it was so near to A's ship ... it took me a few days to gain my bearings on that one .... and I pray that the families are finding their way through the nightmare of loss of life and loss of dreams. I had envisioned that there was more implied safety behinds those gates, fences, and security.

I will continue to lift a prayer for the safety, health, happiness, great A School experiences, and protection as they move toward their ships, wherever in the world that may take our graduates from 9/10/10. God bless them all.

Sounds like the autumnal baking extravaganza is beginning to get underway .... extra pounds notwithstanding! (me most definitely included in the extra pounds department).

Missing you guys, loving you guys .... and loving our special Sailors from 9/10/10.

Hi everyone! Well I'm still finding my new group woefully disappointing. I joined one specific to H.'s job and it's not good. The other one is where she is stationed and that one mostly chats about other jobs so isn't pertinent. Sigh! So I visit here to say "hi" to my girls. Hope everyone is adapting to their new rolls. Crazy how much has changed. H. classes up today with a couple other ladies from her old division. It's nice they are still together.

Well a cool, fall feeling day here in Oregon. Maybe I should bake or cook something. My family would be pleased. Lol...

Have a lovely day!

Gah - we're just going into spring/summer Down Under and I'm having to pull out the shorts - it is NOT a pretty sight. How sad is it that I logged on to my old Weight Watchers online account and at that time my starting weight was 9lbs less than I weigh now! Hello lettuce my old friend...

Hey ladies! It's been a couple of weeks since I've been on here, but we've been busy with weddings. We have one more wedding on the 16th and then I'm catering/hosting a baby shower for my friend's daughter. I hope you're all dong great. I just hung up the phone from talking to my son in P'cola and he's doing great! Hope all your sailors are doing well.

There once was a man from Nantucket ........

Dyl's Mom and Mary ..... so good to be with you both today! Thanks for the cheer. Good night!

ok Mary...bring your sewing machine over and we'll get busy. ha! I read the instructions and it was a little overwhelming but I figured I could talk the sis into helping.....then I got busy. I'll let you know if I find anything worthwhile..... do you see how all this emptiness is affecting AJ? She's delirious to the point she's making up jokes! LOL!!

Hi AJ! I don't have an empty nest just yet...still have my 16 year old at home but i know how you feel. It just seems so quiet without Dylan here and I still really miss him. I keep thinking i'll wake up one day and be ok with it but for now, i still feel really lonesome. I think volunteering would be a great idea! I was thinking maybe i should vounteer for some of the projects on this site and I found the one where they're making pillowcases but i don't have a sewing machine. I'm going to keep looking though....... Have a great day everyone!

Knock-knock. Whose there? PIR. PIR who? P(eople) I aRE here. Where are you?

Lame, huh? Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of all you and hoping you are doing well. Sundays still seem a bit rough to make it through without A being around. It is an odd thing, because I want to have it tug less at my heartstrings so it doesn't hurt so much .... but on the other hand .... I know that he is doing what he wants to do and has set out on his own adventure. I want to somehow get better at the 'letting go' thing. I don't think I am a good let-er-goer. I think I've been blind sighted by the empty nest - thought I'd be better about it than I am. I have looked up the numbers for the USO at our airport in Denver and the VA Hospital in Denver and think that I will do some volunteering at one or both. I think I will start with the USO which will not make me quite so sad as the VA Hospital. At the USO I will be able to think about someone else in another USO in another city or country offering the same smile, warmth, hug, etc. to my Sailor as I might be able to offer to someone here.

So smiles and hugs all around to each of you on this Sunday. :)
Be well, smile and hug the next person you see!
