I wonder if Mrs B is having the baby? Hope everything is ok with her and the baby!
So, we must have the smartest kids ever! My son has a similar story about having to leave friendships behind in order to move forward. It's kind of sad because Dylan and his friend were inseparable until his Jr year and Dyl's decided he wanted more and began to take things seriously while his friend eventually dropped out of school. Such a shame cuz he is basically a good kid. They're still friends but they don't have much in common anymore. I'm hoping Dyl's will make a connection with someone. Right now he is in his own room and he says he listens to his Ipod when he's alone but sometimes that can last awhile. I told him that i really like getting phone calls everyday but if that became and issue with him, he didn't have to..... he said, "No, that's ok Mom, I don't mind." I hope it's not because he's lonely.....I'll be glad when they move him to a different ship for A school.
Mary, I talked to Dyl's about Dereck and he says he's a good guy. I think he'll do great!

Has anyone heard from Mrs. B? Here is hoping she is resting and take such good care of herself and TJ (wasn't that the name she referred to?). Sending you love Mrs. B and baby!

Hi gals. I understand what you are saying Mary and I believe that your son is already leaps and bounds ahead of whomever he chose to walk away from. Aaron chose to do the same with his best friend through all of high school and I am so impressed by his ability to handle that betrayal and loss and choose a brighter road. I too hope that he (and all our young men and women) are able to discover, create, and nurture some new friendships which will out shine all that they have experienced (other than those true friends that have been priceless of course -- as I know that not everyone experiences this and not all friends fall into that category). Yes! Iris! All fingers and toes are crossed. Here's to new and fabulous friendships all around!

Morning all. Mary - I hope your son connects with some more while he's there. Tough when you are the only one that has grown up out of a group you've been in for a while. My fingers are crossed, toes too that he will perk up soon. Send him more jerky and more pics of his dogs, that ought to do it. =)

Mary, I watched that series called "Carrier" on PBS.com. (I recommend this to all of you). It was all about life on board. They said that it was worst than high school. My impression after watching was that the ones that had a good friend had a more enjoyable experience. It sounds like D made some tough decisions not to hang with the wrong crowd. I'll pray he (and all our sailors) makes some quality friends that he will never forget.

Okay, Shel, Klenex for you next!

Mary, that's hysterical! Mine is telling me...."boot camp wasn't anything" and he's having the time of his life out in San D. enjoying all kinds of liberty with a laid back commander and even taking the train to celebrate w/ his aunts and uncles that live on the west coast! I'm still trying to catch my momma was right break....
