HI Everyone!!!! It was soooo... nice to meet face to face with those of you that I managed to bump into. AJ, Kim, Memejojo, Maureen and a few more that I just can't remember your names at the moment. Blush! Sorry I wasn't able to make it to the meet and greet. We got into the Springhill Suites at 2100 Thursday night and I had a migraine, so went right to my room after meeting AJ.

Wasn't this just the best weekend EVER? Lol... I'm pooped but so happy. Just got home a little while ago and had to just pop on to say hi. I took 245 pics on Graduation day. I'll find somewhere to post them cause I took pics of everyone I could. So you may see your kid and I'd be happy to send you a copy of the photo if you want it.

My daughter arrived yesterday at her A school in Florida and said it's beautiful. She has liberty today to go get a few things she'll be needing.

Now we look forward to December when she can come home of leave.

Gotta get some laundry going.

Chat with you all some more in the next day or two.

My son arrived at A school yesterday and I'm getting texts and phone calls all day long. It's awesome! Not quite as awesome as my friends who got all weekend liberty, but whatever... I'm not bitter. I swear.

@Karla!! You are fantastic!! I can hardly wait to see them! Enjoy your time with your Sailor and Congratulations!!

@LynB- My husband graduated from GL (1983) when they held the PIR's outside. He was out there on the hot pavement in the middle of the summer, I wonder if they had the PIR's outside in the winters also. Something I have to ask him. LOL. The PIR Building is a nice thing for them now. My SR is 4 yrs JROTC, he had to teach Drill and really had to stress that they not lock their knees.

I had no idea about the fainting! Bless their hearts.

I have photos of DIV 944 and DIV 945. I'm still in GL and won't be home till the first part of the week. I forgot my cord for my camera to plug into my laptop and my camera uses a special memory card that will not work with my laptop. At that time I will be glad to email those that want the pictures I have of 944 and 945 to them. Send me your email in a private message or you can request me as a friend on facebook.

I only saw ONE FAINTER!! LOL.
Comment by Whaletalkers on September 12, 2010 at 12:06am
It's not so much that they are tired. But when they lock their legs while standing it makes them faint. It restricts the blood flow. It is quite common to happen.

PIR was amazing, I got in, no problem, no waiting, let in, straight from the gate, got there at 6:30, 10 minuite wait and we were in! no issues whatsoever. I got the first hug from my sailor! gosh was he happy. we spend the weekend going to museums, him napping, and just lounging. he has a terrible flu so he was pretty miserable all weekend, and just moseyed around. felt so bad for him:( I'm hoping to head back up oct. 23rd to see him!!:)
Comment by diannep on September 11, 2010 at 11:30pm
Lyn: Yes, there is ALWAYS fainting...at every single PIR! That is why they have the body snatchers walking through the ranks during the ceremony to spot the "wobblers" and usher them out before they faint or as they faint.

When my son graduated in Feb, he was kind of in the back too....and also short so I doubt he saw much either! Here's hoping that you can Skype with your new sailor soon!
