Ahhhhh and Arg and Double Arg and Triple AHHHHHHHHHH! I missed what was only my second phone call from the ship last night. I couldn't get to the phone fast enough before the call rolled to voice mail (and no message!). This sucks.
Also, proud navy mom .... I have been intending to mention this and keep forgetting. Be sure to communicate to your daughter to take all that she might anticipate needing during her deployment. I have already had to ship bottles of contact solution, etc., because there are certain things that you cannot buy on the ship .... and I've been told by others that what is available to buy on the ship is quite expensive. My son left thinking that he would be able to pick up some stuff 'along the way' when they stop in at ports ...... and I can tell you that the port visits for him have changed in every way possible .... there can be l-o-n-g periods at sea without a port at all .... and scheduled visits and scheduled ports change a multitude of times. If there is anything she absolutely needs to have, best that she take it with her. I shipped a package to my son over a month ago and he still doesn't have it. Get this. They are supposed to receive 3,000 pounds of mail in the next day or two, and 20,000 pounds of mail within the next 10 days. That is a whole heap of lovin' coming from home. Santa Claus is coming to town! Also know that with these mail drops, they can only have so much weight and if the ship needs parts, or food, or people, or other stuff, mail goes last.
And since I am the bearer of such good news this morning, I'm assuming you guys all know by now, but if the government shuts down, our Sailors will continue to 'earn' their pay, but will not 'receive' it until later. That will place a unnecessary and ludicrous hardship on our Sailors, and even more so for those with families to support.
All that being said, wishing you all Iris's RSL!
Hurley- Yes:) For sure joining!!!
December 14th 2011:) I shall be at the office signing those beloved papers.
Morning Ladies - Thank you for all the support and suggestions. I will be talking to Haley. You are all correct in that I have to go with my gut. Even if I'm wrong about him, at least she has a heads up to my suspicions and maybe would pick up on some things she wouldn't otherwise. Hope that made sense. I'm watching his FB posts and sounds like he has something planned Thursday and Friday with someone. Not sure if that someone is Haley or not, but I emailed her and said I needed to talk with her in private, soon. I don't want her to inadvertently leading this guy on. I don't think he would take rejection very well. Anyhow, I suppose once a Mom always a Mom. Lol..... I'll keep you all posted.
Mary - I need some of that Bio-Freeze. I slept wrong on my neck the other night and man am I suffering. I need to do my workout this morning and I'm cringing at how that is going to feel with a stiff neck. Whine!!!! Hope you are feeling alright after your workout. My son has a shirt that says "Pain is weakness leaving the body". Lordy, I must be really weak. Lol....
Well, I have a super busy day today. Workout, shower, coffee with friend, lunch with hubby, dr. apt. for Cody, Border's to get ASVAB study guide, home to cook dinner. We are having a Thai Chicken BBQ dish and veggies. I'm trying to go vegetarian while at home, so I'll be having a veggie burger and veggies. Seeing if that doesn't help with the weight loss. What I really need is my doctor to prescribe me an anorexic for the evenings. I'm a late evening snacker. Boo HIss. We'll see if he's sympathetic enough to do it.
I better get on it.
Oh I wanted to say congrats to the smarty pants (Mary's son) and to proudmom - I'm happy your daughter is going to her ship. Here's to all our sailors being happy and safe.
Hugs!!!
Thanks AJ. I'm always here reading and supporting everyone quietly. Love to read what is going on with everyone.
My daughter just got her phone call. She leaves San Diego Monday for Japan to meet her ship. She is excited as she is bored there already after less than a week.
