Ahhhhh and Arg and Double Arg and Triple AHHHHHHHHHH!  I missed what was only my second phone call from the ship last night.  I couldn't get to the phone fast enough before the call rolled to voice mail (and no message!).  This sucks.

Also, proud navy mom .... I have been intending to mention this and keep forgetting.  Be sure to communicate to your daughter to take all that she might anticipate needing during her deployment.  I have already had to ship bottles of contact solution, etc., because there are certain things that you cannot buy on the ship .... and I've been told by others that what is available to buy on the ship is quite expensive.  My son left thinking that he would be able to pick up some stuff 'along the way' when they stop in at ports ...... and I can tell you that the port visits for him have changed in every way possible .... there can be l-o-n-g periods at sea without a port at all .... and scheduled visits and scheduled ports change a multitude of times.  If there is anything she absolutely needs to have, best that she take it with her.  I shipped a package to my son over a month ago and he still doesn't have it.  Get this.  They are supposed to receive 3,000 pounds of mail in the next day or two, and 20,000 pounds of mail within the next 10 days.  That is a whole heap of lovin' coming from home.  Santa Claus is coming to town!  Also know that with these mail drops, they can only have so much weight and if the ship needs parts, or food, or people, or other stuff, mail goes last.

And since I am the bearer of such good news this morning, I'm assuming you guys all know by now, but if the government shuts down, our Sailors will continue to 'earn' their pay, but will not 'receive' it until later.  That will place a unnecessary and ludicrous hardship on our Sailors, and even more so for those with families to support.

All that being said, wishing you all Iris's RSL!

Hi every one, just trying to catch up on the posts here.

Oh boy Iris, I would def. Tell Haley about this guy. She needs to pop this bubble of his and fast! She seems like she has a good head. She can always talk to someone on base about this. Nip it in the bud. Personally I don't feel you owe him an explaination for telling her. She's your daughter. Sorry to hear about her and Travis breaking up but they are young and so much adventure awaits them both. I hope you are feeling well and your little kitty is also. I bet she has grown in the past months

Wow Mary you have one smart kid! His brains are from his mom! I always say that about mine when they do well. So great that he went in as young as he is. Matt said yesterday he wishes he did this 10 years ago. Better late than never for him I guess. When will you go visit him?

AJ, back in costa Rica again? I know what you mean about wearing a bra and sweating. I never wear one when I'm home even with A/C when it's nice outside I love to go outside and garden but it gets hot and humid.

d o, happy you were able to get electricity back. Funny how we can't function without it. Here I don't have water if I dont have electric, well needs a pump...storms can be scary, at least for me.

Mrs.B, all is going to be just fine for your little family. I think you both are going to finally be happy. You will find your notch in life and will be just great at it. The baby is getting so big. Heard to believe he was in your belly when we all first met!

Dyls Mom, wow, he's still up at GLs. He went through one cold and snowy winter there. Bet he wants some warm weather. Unless he likes it cold! I always tell my guys not to burn bridges, they may need them one day..

Proud mom, so happy she gets to go to her ship now. SD is quite nice but I'm sure she wants adventure. So exciting!

Nichole, so happy all is well with you. Are you still considering the Navy? I think it's a great choice for anyone young.

Well my son Marc is leaving for Boot Camp on Tuesday. I am so sad because we are very close and unlike Matt he will not be based close to visit. Hes very nervous. Reminds me of when Matt was leaving. He just bought his tee shirts and undies. Also his stamps and phone card. To bad he can't enjoy the beach up at Cape May, just saw it made number 1 in best beaches.

Ok, love you guys! Once a Navy mom always a Navy mom!

Morning Ladies - Thank you for all the support and suggestions. I will be talking to Haley. You are all correct in that I have to go with my gut. Even if I'm wrong about him, at least she has a heads up to my suspicions and maybe would pick up on some things she wouldn't otherwise. Hope that made sense. I'm watching his FB posts and sounds like he has something planned Thursday and Friday with someone. Not sure if that someone is Haley or not, but I emailed her and said I needed to talk with her in private, soon. I don't want her to inadvertently leading this guy on. I don't think he would take rejection very well. Anyhow, I suppose once a Mom always a Mom. Lol.....  I'll keep you all posted.

Mary - I need some of that Bio-Freeze. I slept wrong on my neck the other night and man am I suffering. I need to do my workout this morning and I'm cringing at how that is going to feel with a stiff neck. Whine!!!!   Hope you are feeling alright after your workout. My son has a shirt that says "Pain is weakness leaving the body". Lordy, I must be really weak. Lol....

Well, I have a super busy day today. Workout, shower, coffee with friend, lunch with hubby, dr. apt. for Cody, Border's to get ASVAB study guide, home to cook dinner. We are having a Thai Chicken BBQ dish and veggies. I'm trying to go vegetarian while at home, so I'll be having a veggie burger and veggies. Seeing if that doesn't help with the weight loss. What I really need is my doctor to prescribe me an anorexic for the evenings. I'm a late evening snacker. Boo HIss. We'll see if he's sympathetic enough to do it.

I better get on it.

Oh I wanted to say congrats to the smarty pants (Mary's son) and to proudmom - I'm happy your daughter is going to her ship. Here's to all our sailors being happy and safe.

Hugs!!!

Nicole, I think you just read my mind and said my thoughts! :)  I agree, being a daughter myself and newly married, I would want my mom to tell me about the guy to and what he is in to, just so I could decide before having to break someone else's heart.

That is big news proud navy mom!  Finally, after all her hard work, she's headed to her ship.  Now it really gets interesting for her.  Wishing her all the very, very best.  Please stay here with us!

My daughter just got her phone call. She leaves San Diego Monday for Japan to meet her ship. She is excited as she is bored there already after less than a week.
