I think I will switch as well....this is also a getaway for us, so want to stay somewhere nice....we can all go to the Ramada and then bring the party back to Spring Hill!

Maureen - I agree we'll just have to trot over to the Ramada for the M&, which is no big deal.

Deborah...I just changed mine to Springhill as well. The two queens and sofa bed for 89.00 is pretty good. She said she was 3 miles from the Ramada so I can deal with that. Also, there is a indoor pool ( for my kids) , a free breakfast and also a small refrig and microwave in each room. Sounded better to me.

Oh - Michelle to answer your question "Yes" we are renting a car. Don't know if we'll be taking it or the shuttle to PIR yet though. . . gotta think about that one more.

When I spoke to them they said they were about 4 miles from GL. I also asked her personally what her feelings were about the Ramada and she said it was fine just an older hotel. One of the main reasons that everyone stays there is because of the meet and greet. We get Marriott points so Springhill works better for us. I'm sure the Ramada is just as nice. I was surprised at the price though.

ok I called the Spring Hill as well and honestly, their rates are better then ramada for me. I wouldve had to have two rooms in the Ramada and here I would have 2 queens and a pull out for 89.00 a night ( mines higher cause of extra bed)....So im thinking of double booking for now.

As far as driving to the graduation....I do know the gates open to the base for graduation at 630. I have heard good and bad about taking the shuttles. But I would think if you have a parking pass, and ID and your car rental agreement it would be okay. Im sure Sobe or Jessica would have more info on that though

Michelle - we live closer to Burbank but because LAX is cheaper we fly out of there. Orange County is pretty far from us but I'll keep that in mind when I check for flights.

Sobe - concerning parking at PIR vs. shuttle. I noticed that they said that we had to have registration and proof of insurance if we park at GL is that usually problem if you rent a car. Also, these shuttles seem to run at specific times (i.e. leave at 6:30 AM and pick up is 11:00) is that enough time to see the PIR, meet up with our sailor and then be able to catch the shuttle back? Doesn't seem like it would be.

Hey Deborah! Good morning. I've heard that is really nice and that's a great price. The only reason I'm thinking Ramada is because of the M&G. Are you guys going to rent a car? If you take the shuttle to PIR, is there a shuttle going back to the hotel as well?
Comment by Deborah (CTT son) on July 23, 2010 at 11:26am
Hello Ladies - I made reservations at the Springhill Suites yesterday. If you mention that you have someone graduating from GL they offer a discount $79 a night for room with king + sofa. I didn't realize everyone was going to stay at Ramada and we like the Marriott. The receptionist said they offer a shuttle $6 per person at 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM.

Michelle...I would just ask Greg what he really wants in a letter or a phone call and go from there ? You could always get a room with two doubles . Greg is gonna want to come back to hotel with you and from what I hear, after battlestations, they want to sleep some, so either way the bed wouldnt be a loss ?
