The Prayer below was posted by Missy in PIR 7/23. It's obviously written by a wife or GF, but it works for any of us. This is the best one I've heard in a long time. Prayers out and candles lit for those last divisions doing BS-21 tonight (Battle Stations 21 exercise) - they graduate on Friday.

Dear Lord, give me the greatness of heart to see
The difference between duty and his love for me.
Give me understanding so that I may know
That when duty calls he must go.
Give me a task to do each day
to fill the time he is away.
And, Lord, when he goes out to sea
Bring him safely home to me

Thanks Hoppi!

Ladies, the answer Hoppi gave was to Michellep's question below (can recruits quit bc). Hoppi works at Great Lakes A-School, so she is not only in the Navy, but has family in the Navy. She's on a lot of groups - her answers are short, blunt and to the point, but they are always "right-on". She leaves the touchy feeling stuff for us to write!!! But.... I know she has a sense of humor - I've seen it! So you can trust the info she gives you. She will correct me from time to time, but I want that, I hate giving out wrong information.

Lynn - it's up to you where to fly to, but it also depends on the time you fly in. We flew in to O'Hare at a time when traffic was light, so it wasn't a problem. Even though others found cheaper flights to Milwaukee, I was flying from San Francisco and it was cheaper to fly to O'Hare for me, and it was a non-stop flight too. That was also 7 weeks ago too!

Thanks Sobe! That helps. I am probably stressing more about that than I need to. I think I have frozen him somewhere between 7 and 9 years old in my head.

Lynn & Michellep: Looks like your recruits are in same division. Now you can exchange the correct address and mail those letters!

michellep: They don't let them just quit. The RDC's know it's hard at first and they keep pushing them to go forward - otherwise no one would finish bc and we wouldn't have a Navy! Now, is there really an "out" card? I have no idea. I've heard rumors, but I hate rumors, so I will refer to my friend who works in the Navy and get back to you or have her post it directly here for you.

Yes, most say to their parents that they want to quit, but then they also signed up and knew it would be hard, so they just tell us these things to get it off their minds and they keep moving forward and before you know it, it's graduation day and they say, wow - that wasn't that bad. (but they would never want to go thru it again!!!)

Good to know. I bought a whole book to put in his letter tomorrow. I'll just send 10. I'd take that as really positive, too. No get me out of here I've made the biggest mistake of my life.

That's good, Lynn. Did he give any indication of if he was doing okay? Happy?

I am really wondering what happens at this point if they try to quit. I know I've already said that... I just wonder if I'm going to get a call from Greg saying, "Hey, I need you to pick me up at the airport. The Navy's not really my thing."

What is the website for the Ramada? Is there a shuttle to take us from there to graduation?

Each division has a different mailing address, some are on different streets. So only use the address cyndi gave below if your recruit is in the same division as her recruit.
