Okay ladies, I just created an "event" for this PIR for your Meet & Greet on Thurs 9/9/10 at the Ramada Inn. If you look on left side of any page, scroll down to the bottom and see all the events. Since yours is in September, you'll need to click on "view all" and then it brings it up in a slightly different fashion, but still by date. Please RSVP with number of people by 8/30/10. I will ask Michellep to please send a message to all members of this group telling them to go to the event and rsvp.

For the record, I put 1234 Sailor Drive because I wasn't sure about the numbers when posting. The actual address is 3415 Sailor Drive. Although I do wonder if I got that right. It sounds almost silly. ANd like my son has said for the last year, his recruiter DOES mumble. Does anyone from Ship 9 Div 303 with the form letter have the address handy?

Kim - here's the zip code 60088 They all have the same zip, but the + 4 number may be different, but that's not required.

SR stands for Seaman Recruit - so you don't need to write the word "Recruit". Lase name first, then first name - and if it's a common name, use middle initial after first name!

I believe Maureen volunteered to coordinate the M&G.

Yes, Kim. I've been mailing since Monday. Incorrectly, of course, but mailing nonetheless.

Oh wow! I can get my letters in the mail tomorrow, even before I get "the letter"!

Geez, I'm trying to remember if we got a volunteer on this group or if it was on the 9-2 group to be the chairperson for the Meet & Greet. Sorry, I have CRS (Can't Remember Stuff - although another word fits nicely too!). Is there a maureen in this group? I truly can't remember now!! I have officially lost it ladies, I am helping out on all 8 PIR groups and they tend to get smeared in my mind.

The Ramada just needs one person to be the contact person for this site, that person is also in charge of posting an event on the right side of this website (visable from any page). They occassionally post reminders here on the groups page to sign up for the M&G on the 'event' posting. They like a head count a week before PIR - and don't worry, they know their are others who will come who have never heard of N4M before, but they see it in the flyer that comes with the form letter. BTW - that form letter is the ONLY official letter you will receive the entire time they are in bc. Unless of course your recruit wins an award (like the ones I posted earlier for PIR 7/23), if so - then you are personally invited to sit in the VIP section at graduation!

Yes, your form letter will have the names of the people your recruit wants to invite. If you write and ask for others to be listed (or change a name), it's up to your recruit to do it and only if he/she wants to do that. This needs to be done prior to 2 weeks before PIR (that's when they submit all changes). Remember.... it takes 7-8 days for the recruits to receive mail - no matter how close you live to Great Lakes! We get their mail by Wed or Thurs each week - occassionally on a Friday. So write to them SOON if you want to ask them to update their four person list (kids 12 and under do not need to be listed and they do not count as one of the four people).

Not sure why I can't find this but I can't. Can someone confirm with me the way to address letters?

SR RECRUIT XXXX, GREGORY
RTC
1234 SAILOR DRIVE
SHIP 9 DIV 303
GREAT LAKES IL XXXXX-XXXX

Is that right? Because I think I left off the RTC on the first few lettters I sent on Monday.

Cyndi, we are planning to do the M&G at Ramada and I am thinking or staying there but nothing is for sure.

My step daughter arrived on the 14th as well - Michelle and I are both in California and I got the box a day ahead of her so perhaps she'll get the form letter before me (fair is fair) LOL!

I dont have a form letter yet, Kim, but that is what I read, too. Not only on here but on one of the actual military sites. It is up to the recruits who they put on the list.
