Try Rhino Falls off the job :)  It's not the good one she showed me where he gets up and limps slowly away, but you'll get the idea!  Thats a whole lot of rhino hitting the ground.

River City...that's my new learning for the day :-)

Hey all - sounds like everyone is proceeding along the path, where ever its going.

Mrs B - I sure hope things are going ok and y'all are figuring out next steps.  On to bigger and better things right?

Iris - tulip photos?  And I bet Cody is SO much better when all is said and done.  I had my tonsils out at 16 after being ill with strep and bronchitis for pretty much an entire year and a half and it made all the difference.  Tonsils, once they go are like little hotbeds of cooties waiting to pounce...get rid of 'em!

Thanks for your congrats on my daughter.  I am so very proud of her.  She's worked hard for it - started working as a volunteer at the fossil site associated with the University the day she turned 16 - literally. She had to be 16 before they'd let her.  So she's been working in the field towards becoming an official Paleontologist for six years, and she's good at it.  Her masters thesis is going to be on injuries in Miocene/Pliocene rhinos they've found in the pits - apparently male rhinos and she's theorizing that the injuries are sex related :-)  Thanks to Youtube shes showed me real video of Mr. Rhino FALLING OFF Mrs Rhino and limping painfully away - poor guy. My daughter, the rhino sex expert.

A sent me a photo yesterday that I'll share!

We were listening to an audio book the other day called The Faith of A Solider. It stated that this electronic age was a challenge since a service person could call home and tell their spouse that "Joe Blow" died (or was in trouble) and then that spouse would called "Joe Blow's" family and tell them things before the service could contact them.  This caused all kinds of problems.  It might not be anything especially bad, yet it might be something sensitive that needs to go through the proper channels before the public gets wind of it.  I guess I can see the wisdom in that, but as a parent, I want to know now!

Thanks AJ for keeping us in the know.  How stressful that must have been for you.  Was it worse than battle stations?!

Hey d o .... I've decided that this is cannot be a threat to national security to know what this is .... as you will all know eventually anyway.  So when they go 'to River City' or 'through River City' .... it is not a place.  The way I learned about it was 'They are going through River City and it is really bad.'  So, I got out every map and globe and internet resource I had to find where in the world River City was and why was it so bad?  After a day of searching, I finally did Google it in a way that took me to an Marine site that helped.  River City is a condition of no communication out of the ship and perhaps even into the ship, except through Navy channels.  What I learned is that it can occur if there has been a death (which was why it was created), in order to communicate with family first before others on the ship start sharing information; now, it also encompasses if they are in an area that communications need to be hushed to provide more security to the ship in a hostile environment; and last, if someone has leaked information that they should not have and it is a form of punishment to adhere to OPSEC rules.  I would think that educating people about this term and its use is better than not knowing about it.  The condition can last a few days, or a few weeks, and I read in one situation, for a few months.

We, outside family, do not know the circumstances of why our ship went RC, and probably most of the crew on the ship don't either ... but they did .... and have now just come out of it again.  And I pray that this explanation is within an acceptable range for OPSEC.  I still do not know what the really bad thing was that happened.

Hope this helps.

AJ I'm still clueless, can I just google it?

Wonderful news Lyn, thanks for sharing.

Mrs. B, I hate the process you are going through.  Is your husband alright?  Is the discharge he is getting going to allow him to rejoin after he gets better?  That might be important later on.  I am praying for you.

Iris, don't you just hate it when someone who lives in Hawaii with her boyfriend complains;) I can empathize with your husband and hope Cody has a speedy recovery.  Tell your husband, "tulips are are better than one, Kiss me baby and we can have our own festival!"

Mary, maybe your sailor is the one who figures out a way to make it safer for the rest of the world. He's got to be brilliant to even be in that program.  I'm pulling for him:)

Morning Ladies -

AJ - Thank you. I figured it out too. =(  And you are being kind, you always are. Hugs to you.

Just want to wish everyone a happy weekend. Keep our men and women in your hearts.

LynB - what wonderful news for you and for your daughter. Congratulations to her for the hard work it must have taken to achieve all of that!  So glad that you shared it with us here.  And wow, it's hard to imagine that your son is now going to be leaving the Navy .... and I suppose that things can always change again.  Change seems to be a constant in life .......

..... as you know all to well yourself Mrs. B ....... it sounds like you are hanging on pretty well given all of the rapid change for your family.  What a relief for you that all will be honorable in his discharge.

Mary .... hopefully today has been more quiet with no fires, cat and dog fights, etc.  You do crack us up .... thankfully.  I actually hope you've had an outright 'boring' day!

Iris - No need to back up and read old posts .... I didn't explain what it was, because I can't go into detail on here .... and was trying to be cryptic enough to grab you guys' attention, because it is something you will want to know.  It must seem like I'm taunting and I'm only trying to stay within the rules and convey that there is something I want to share with you so that you don't have to go through the same thing I did.  You can private message me with a way to call you as I won't commit it to electronic written form.  That's the best I can do. I'm trying to be kind ... and somehow it just isn't coming across that way.

Have fun at the tulip festival and we'll look forward to some bright and happy pictures.

Hugs to all.

Good Morning Ladies!

Mrs. B - This has been quite a journey for you guys. Just remember it's just the beginning of an lifetime of experiences that will shape and mould each of you, and what an exciting adventure. Look at this as yet another twist and turn in the roller coaster of life. Please keep us posted about what you, TJ and Paul are up to now and again. Take care and hang on sister..... =) Hugs to you and yours.

AJ - What's River City. I think I need to go back and refresh. I missed something. Hope you are doing well. Keep smiling baby!

Mary - You kill me. You must adopt special animals like we do. Your cat sounds badass. Nice! And on the sink - Coke down the drain will eat through most clogs if it's able to sit for a while. Just think what that does for our inner'd if it will digest what gets caught in the drain. Glad to hear Dereck is back on track. I have no doubts he will make you proud.

Lyn - Wahoo! That's just awesome. Congrats to your daughter. That is quite a deal. =)))

Well I had to take Cody into the doctors yesterday. He's been suffering with a migraine, then ear ache and head aches that won't go away. He has had bad sinus issues in the past. They tested him for allergies a while back and he was only allergic to dust mights. So we got him the allergy bed covers and pillow cover and he changes his sheets often. They did an MRI at the same time as the allergy tests and said he had an undulated septum (wavy). So now they are going to ream his nose out and take his adenoids and tonsils. This will hopefully finally end his breathing issues. The boy needs to be able to breath properly if he's going to be a lean, mean Marine. Anyhow, that's the latest. My husband is looking forward to the day we all remain healthy.

Haley is well, I'm bored - want a job, whine, whine, whine....  BUT.... the Tulip festival is Sunday and I'm going to go play with my sister Rosie. Yay....

Better get.

Hugs to you all.

Hi Ladies,

I don't know anything much new with our situation besides that my husband has meetings every day with medical and that they are working on the paper work to discharge him. He will not being getting a dishonorable discharge and will not being getting an other-than-honorable discharge. The type of discharge he is getting will not be bad at all, and then after 6 months, he can go and get it changed to honorable discharge, just like it would be if he did the whole 4 years. They told him that they would give him the best discharge possible. So that is good.

Everything is very overwhelming and frustrating right now, but I'm just trying to hang in there, be strong and just keep my head on straight.

Blessings to all of you!
