Great pic AJ!
Yeah, Dyl's and his sense of humor! it will be funny if he really does get Hawaii. I can't remember what he put on his dream sheet but he wants to go to San Diego and then deploy to the Orient I think. He should have a good shot at getting close to what he wants but he said you never know...they put you where they need you. Not sure where he'll end up. oh...and yeah, IC is interior communications.
Glad you get to see your daughter soon Proud Navy Mom...... that's sooooo exciting! I bet she's ready to come home for a visit!
Iris, can you do some exercising for me? i just can't seem to shake this weight and it's driving me crazy! takes a day to put on 5 pounds and 2 months to get rid of it! life! so unfair!
Mary, the dogs running in and out with mud is funny.....sounds alot like yogi who likes to run all over the back yard and he can't just step into the house, he comes bombarding through the door....very little chance of getting him until its too late.....then out comes the green machine! lol!
Sorry to hear the bad news LynB.... it really is hard for the kids to have to deal with the death of people they know. i don't think it's anything you can ever get used to or get over but they do learn to move on....... sad but true.
well, i gotta run and put a box together for dyls for mailing tomorrow. he ordered some books for his rate that he needs to study so i'll send them to him along with some goodies.
Take care all .......praying for all of our sailors safety and well being!
Morning Ladies -
Nicole - You are such a busy girl. That's what keeps you so nice and thin. Glad things are progressing with the Navy. That's exciting. Keep us posted, you have about the most active life among us. Lol.... Sometimes, for just an insane moment, I wish I was your age again. =)
Proud - So cool! Congrats to your daughter. Ouch on the red eye to Japan, but she's young and will probably manage quite nicely with all the time changes and sleeping on the plane. Tell her we wish her the best and be safe.
Mary - ewwww.... your weather sounds shitty. Is that what your Spring is like? Boo..... I vote that nice weather be everywhere. Save us all from having to move or the expense of traveling just to see the sun. Oh and if I forgot, congrats to Derrick on classing up. There sure seems to be a whole lot of hurry up and wait in the Navy.
AJ - Don't sweat what you can't say to us due to security reasons. We all can imagine the scary stuff and wouldn't dream of asking you to put any of the men and women in our military at risk. Safe travels to them all and a quick return home. So how are you acclimating to Colorado again? bundled up by the fire I hope. Stay warm. The rumor is Spring is on it's way. Lol..... Oh guess what... it's gray and rainy here. This is why we are working towards moving to someplace with more sunshine. I have to take a vit D pill everyday. We have the highest number of people with depression in the country (Pacific Northwest). Anyhow, whine, whine, whine.... pulling up the big girl panties and moving on. =)
Dyl's Mom - Hi! Glad to hear Dylan is doing well. I wonder where he'll be stationed. Hawaii does have a lot of bases. Is IC communications? Travis (Haley's boyfriend) is in communications in the Marine Corp. So you never know. We won't be going over until September cause Haley still hasn't started training for her job. That' will be in about two more weeks. Then in April she'll be put on the watch schedule. So September seemed more reasonable, thinking she'll have a much better idea what her day will be like and she can take some leave time. Keep us posted to where he goes and give Yogi a big hug for us.
Lyn - I'm so sorry. That's really sad and sobering. I suppose it's a good lesson that they are not indestructible, but what a horrible price. I look at the loss of life and can't justify what we are doing. I support our men and women, but the missions are suspect. Anyhow, hugs to A.
Well, my sister Rose decided we all needed a little mother/daughter competition. So she bought some ugly jewelry accessories and assigned us each a material that we have to design an outfit out of. I have tinfoil, Haley has TP. Lol... This ought to be fun. We have to post our outfits (worn by us) on FB May 15th. My other sister and neice are participating and my cousin and her daughter. So we have 8 outfits that will be showcased. I need to get started on my masterpiece. I'll post a picture when it's finished.
Nothing else happening here. Still looking for work and trying to loose the weight. Man, it was so easy to put on, but being a real bitch to take off. I have started weight training with my hubby on M, W, & F mornings. Today I Turbo Jam - a good 40 minute cardio hopeful will help.
Well, have a fabulous day and tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!
Hugs.
LynB - I'm so sorry that A had this unimaginable and tragic experience doing a training mission ..... cold hard reality just sucks sometimes. It's good to hear that he is enjoying what he's doing in Coronado .....may he continue to do so in all ways.
Here is a picture posted yesterday from the ship ..... it looks so little out there in the vastness of all that water ......
Way to go Dyl ... A School out of the way! ..... what a tease to tell you that he got Hawaii (that you got Hawaii visits) .... ahhhhhhh!
Heading out to mail my first care package .... he didn't take enough saline solution for his contacts ..... guess those reminders to buy enough before he deployed just went straight in one ear and out the other. I may be repeating myself, but did you guys know that you can call the USPS and getting care kit packages mailed directly to you? It does help .... don't forget to get some customs forms too.
So, gotta scoot ..... have a good day.
Awww...was on Skype with A yesterday morning and it turns out he knew (though only in passing) the two guys killed in a water truck rollover at Pendleton this week. His unit, Seabee ACB 1 are doing a training exercise with the Marines (Pacific Horizon - not OPSEC because it's all in the news including photos and was even on CNN online). He is understandably upset at the loss of life during "what is only a training mission." Very hard to watch our kids getting these lessons in cold hard reality. :-(
Up till that happened I think he was kind of enjoying it - driving hummers, working on ships, organizing things. At least he's figured out he likes the being on ships part of being in the Navy.
Hey all! Sorry it's been so long! seems like everytime i want on the computer it's been hijacked by a kid! by the time they're done with it, i'm too tired to post anything. so i'm gonna say a quick "hi" before i head to bed! i've been busy with work and our new pup (Yogi). My nephews call him DR (which is for Dylan's replacement)...ha! He has to be walked everynight or he's a terror and he's into alot of things he shouldn't be so he definitely has kept my mind off of Dyl's. Speaking of......he just finished his A school and is waiting on orders. He heard that there were ALOT of them at GL waiting on orders and thought maybe he wouldn't hear until October but then he found out IC's are being moved out faster than the ET's and FC's so he's hoping to hear something soon. He told me he was being stationed in Hawaii and then said "just kidding Mom"....i wanted to wring his neck cuz i would like a nice vacation like Iris is getting! owell..... par for the course......
looks like everyone is in good spirits and things seem great! I'll try to talk more often..... i'll have to see if Yogi and the boys will let me! lol!
Hi girls.
Congratulations proud navy mom .... for your daughter and you! I had to do some homework this morning to learn more about the active fleets and what our Sailors are originally a part of .... and then how they can join up with others once the ship is deployed .... so now I've got the fleets down and what part of the world they cover .... and wow .... every day I feel like I know less than I thought I knew. Anyway, It is good to see you back here with us.
I have been trying to figure out what I could share about A ... and I haven't stumbled onto or discovered the words or substance yet .... and OPSEC gave us some straight up scary stories about some things that have happened in the past ... and scared the be-geez-us out of me ........ I can say they are hauling ass to get to their destination .... I've only received two short e-mails from him ..... one two-word e-mail ..... and one five-word e-mail.
On a positive note, I've been very surprised by how Facebook plays such a role in keeping families and friends informed to the extent that they can. The Ombudsman Team is fabulous and they leave recorded messages that you can pick up (and they announce when there is a new one via e-mail). The ship has a FB page and they post pictures almost every day of the ship on the water, people on the ship working, etc. At least it feels like something when you know so little .... so be sure to hook yourselves up with all of these resources.
Glad to read that all are doing well and keep it up!
More later ......
