Morning Ladies -

Corie!!!! You're alive. Lol... just kidding, so nice to hear from you on here. I knew you were alive cause your on FB. =) I certainly hope you can move to be with your man. It's difficult to be away from those you love. Hang in there, your plate is full but your appetite is large for life. Don't be such a stranger on here if you can help it. Hugs!

AJ - Welcome home! I hope you are doing well. I think of you a lot. I hope you are able to smile even though you worry. Worry is the cross women bear because we care so much. Hang in there and write when you can. We are here for you. =) Oh and Winston Churchill had a way with words. Sobering!

DO - "Brass balls on a monkey". Now I have to go look that up. You can't just throw out something like that and not tell us what it means. Shesh! Lol....

Be right back -

"It has often been claimed that the "brass monkey" was a holder or storage rack in which cannon balls (or shot) were stacked on a ship. Supposedly when the "monkey" with its stack of cannon ball became cold, the contraction of iron cannon balls led to the balls falling through or off of the "monkey.""

There was a lot of references about "freezing the brass balls off a monkey". Such colorful language. =)

So the night before last - we decided to take Audrey (the new anti-cat social kitten) in the bedroom with us since Cody is gone. All started out pretty well. She growled and hissed and drove the other cats out of the room. All except Licorice who settled down into the cat bed on the floor by my side of the bed. Gene and I start watching a movie. A little while later, kitten moves to get off the bed. Suddenly we hear her scream, hiss and run. I jump up and go rescue her figuring she ran into one of the other cats. Sure enough, her and Licorice went nose to nose. So I find her in the hallway, cowering in the corner. I picked her up and snuggled her inside my nice soft bathrobe. Then I smelled it. In horror I opened my bathrobe and looked down. Oh Lordy, kitten had had an explosion on me and it was dribbling onto the floor. I retched and then summoned my laughing husband over to take the darling little poop pot and go bath her in the basement sink while I cleaned up the floor and myself. I got all offending articles of clothing and clean up supplies into the washer and ran a mop over the floor with some disinfectant. Then my husband and I climbed back into bed with frightened but clean kitten. A few minutes later, we see her squatting on my husbands legs. Apparently the scare had turned everything inside her to liquid and being too scared to jump off the bed, she decided to do her business right there on the comforter. When I noticed her doing this, I had told my husband to not move cause I didn't want it spread over everything. So my not laughing anymore husband had to sit there being pooed on till she was done. Now you can guess who was laughing now. So clean up number two (ha ha... funny play on words) commenced. After we had stripped the bed of the offending soiled articles we settled back in to finish our movie. All was well when we finished and turned off the lights to go to sleep. Then it happened. Around 2 am, my husband was woke by soft paws playing with his face. Kitten wanted to play or so he thought. He brushed her aside and rolled over to continue sleeping. He heard her scratch at the bed sheets and then smelled something foul. He figured his mind was just reliving the earlier evening events, so dismissed it. When we awoke later that morning, I smelled it and saw the nice soaked in poo spot on the bedspread. Needless to say, kitten spent last night in the living room where no one could scare her and turn her into the crap factory. My husband now refers to her as "Shittenlittle". I have to agree. I spent the majority of yesterday doing laundry. =)

Well, that's the latest adventure at our house. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Happy Monday!

Sitting at the airport in San Jose, CR waiting for my flight .... just received this quote of the day ..... ugh ..... in times past, I would have read this and read right over it, not fully grasping its message ........ our mother hearts now grasp it with every cell of our being.

"In wartime truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies."
- Winston Churchill

Good morning my friends - sorry that I've not posted the last couple of days.  Adjusting and breathing.  I am headed to the airport this morning for my travel back to Colorado - I will write more and what I can tomorrow.  Love and a hug to each of you.

Did you know brass balls on a monkey is a nautical term?  It's kind of interesting, google it, it might be Navy.

Wow Mrs. B are you a slam remark magnet or what?  What that man said was rude.  Since I mostly hang out w/ men (go figure) I've come to realize that sometimes their snide remarks are a strange way of showing affection i.e. "I'm sorry you're feeling like such a pussy right now".  That was one I heard said to my husband to chide him into "man up" mode.  It actually made him laugh, whereas it makes me do a double take.  It's the way guys relate to each other, especially service men, and if they can say something that gets them in trouble w/ the wife, they've really out done themselves.  Funny comments like "your wife is so ugly, you're probably begging for the Navy to deploy you", will put them in their place.  These are tools you'll need more and more now that you're raising a boy.

Super sensitive remarks moped Mary. That was really nice.

Iris, I don't know what to think about borders.  I want world peace where we can all travel and no one needs a passport, but I don't want anyone getting my hard earned social security.  How do we have both?  I worked w/ an English little boy the other day.  They live, work and go to school in the U.S.  The boys mum went to visit her (let's say) sister in Norway (or where ever it was), and now they won't let her back home because some T wasn't crossed.  The poor little thing said,  "I'll never see my mommy again".  Only God knows when he will.  You could see the scars on his chest where he'd had some kind of surgery.  This was not the kind of border security I had in mind.  Mexican mafia is different.  What's the answer?!

Come on AJ we need to hear from you.  Remember, their out there to KICK A**!

Haha, Iris, thanks SO much, but I Really think I could have made things worse for my hubby unfortunately. My husband said I didn't, but I'm just waiting to find out in dread of what may happen. I did loose my temper at him, yet I still talked relatively quiet and was half soft spoken..haha. But I did ask for a meeting with the Master Chief of the ship. LOL and he said he would arrange that. The funny thing about all this is that the MC of the ship is like a HUGE family man and even told my hubby that his family (of 6 kids) is VERY important to him and that he tried to always put family first before the Navy. So I think the MC will support my views...and my feelings. But I am still hoping that even though I'm 99.9% sure that he will support me, that I didn't make things worse for my hubby down where he works with the dude that I talked to. :(

Morning Ladies -

AJ - Ack! With things heating up in the middle east and Libiya now having issues, I was wondering when the government was going to get us involved. I'm just guessing it has something to do with the middle east and oil, cause unfortunately greed runs our government. My fingers are crossed that I'm wrong. We do not need to get involved in another war. In fact, how about bringing all our troops home and secure our borders. I'm not talking about the immigration issue, I'm talking about the drug issue. A few years ago the house across the street from us was busted in a three state Mexican Mafia bust. This was a hard core group. Kind of scary. But again, I'm sure there is some profit to our government in letting the drugs come in. Maybe I'm just getting cynical in my older age, but I think if they wanted things to stop, they could manage it. Anyhow, off my soap box. Hope you have better news soon AJ. What a roller coaster ride this has been for you. Hugs hon.

Mrs. B - I commented on FB about you being a better woman than I with that guy and all he said. I'm afraid my temper and mouth would of gotten my husband in more trouble. I'm so sorry P. got hurt. I hope he heals quickly and isn't suffering too much.

DO - LOL... I've never heard that saying before. Yes, I can positively confirm that there is something colder than a witches t*t in a brass brazier. Lol.... thanks for the laugh.

Another lovely gray day here. Shockers! It's suppose to rain. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do beside get my son to the train station so he can go have fun with my sister and her family. Hubby's going to the gun show and then the range to do a  little shooting. You know when I have a job, I never have trouble finding stuff to do, but when I'm home - I can't think of anything I'd like to do. I have a few home improvement projects that I want to complete, but have to wait till things warm up. Painting mostly and tile work in the upstairs bathroom. I suppose I could go get the tile and start on that. There are some pretty glass tiles on sale for $5 a sq. ft. Not going to get better than that for glass tile. The bath is only a 1/2 bath too, so it makes it not too horrendous price wise.

Okay, if that's the plan then I need to go get showered and moving. The fun part is that the tile saw is in the basement and the bathroom is on the third floor. Guess who's going to get her butt in shape doing stairs. Lol..... silver lining baby!

No word from Haley, so nothing more to report. Everyone have a great weekend. Spring is coming.

Hugs!!!

Oh no AJ - fingers crossed for you that everything turns out better than it may appear at this moment whatever is going on.

MrsB - so sorry to hear that your husband has been injured :-(  Hope he heals up quickly.

Comment by Mrs.B_Div 302_Ship9 on March 4, 2011 at 10:20pm

AJ, I am SO sorry!!! Gosh, please tell us something!!!!  I feel for you.

So, I had my own bad experience today; My hubby got seriously hurt on his ship, falling down about 20 stairs (stairwell), knocking a friend of his down on accident and he can hardly walk now. He has a huge lump on his leg (inner thigh, upper leg) and the doctors are worried about blood clots because the injury is so bad. But to add to all that, the guy who was in charge of him told my husband, IN FRONT OF ME, that he should divorce me because I consider family before the Navy...I'm sorry, but I love my hubby and when I told him that my family comes before my country, he told me I was really wrong and that I needed to "mend my ways." I love my country, and I REALLY appreciate ALL our troops, but when my husband is in shock and hurt so bad he can't walk or anything, I'm a little more concerned about him than the Navy. The dude was telling my husband he wished he hadn't gotten hurt because now they didn't have him to help with the work and that even if he was hurt so badly he couldn't walk, that he still needed to come to work and do his job. They didn't even help him walk to the car to get to the hospital! I guess I am way too sensitve and get offended too easily...arghhh.

Anyways, today has been rough.

Sorry for my rants. I know I say more negative than positive... I'm really sorry!

Comment by d o on March 4, 2011 at 6:59pm

Iris, we were laughing about your cold saline problem last night. Does that mean there really is something colder than a witches t*t in a brass brazier?!

Yeah Mary your sailor classed up- whoohoo way to go!:-)      Take care of that knee!

AJ, now I want to know more than ever...please give us a hint.  If we guess it then can you tell us?  I'll be praying for the best.

Nicole, my son loves to swim.  He swam everyday for most of his life.  He says if he could do BC over again, he would fail the (lame) swim test, because the people who couldn't swim got to practice everyday until they could.  Just FYI.
