I learned an important thing last night. Apparently Aaron called his dad on Monday to ask for his passport to be sent to him. I remember having this conversation with the recruiting office and they told us that he would be issued a military passport and that they only used their civilian passport for personal and non-military travel. So, he did not leave with his civilian passport based on this information. Apparently this was a mistake. DO have your Sailor take their civilian passport, even if they have a military one. They will need it if they need to travel home from other countries for emergency, for some medical situations, etc. I wrote the ombudsman team last night to ask about the issue and if it was safe to mail a passport to an FPO address. Here is the response that I want to pass on for your information:
Good morning to all my lovely ladies. Took a day to gather my composure and balance and perspective. Have I mentioned how much of a difference it makes knowing you guys are out there holding my hand? A thousand thank you's to all of you. And I will not forget ..... and I will here ..... when your Sailors reach their first deployment ...... promise.
First news reports from the other moms (whose Sailors are e-mailing up a storm I might add!!) ..... are that they hit a big storm at sea yesterday at some point and the ship is rocking and rolling and many people are seasick and throwing up. And oddly, the ship seems to be out of toilet paper. Having a hard time believing that one .... but requests are pouring in for care packages to ship TP! I wonder how Aaron is faring .........
Someone made this you tube video and posted it. I am very thankful to have it and even more thankful that there is not some beautiful and touching music set to the footage ..... the ole heart isn't quite ready for that emotional tug. But if you want to watch the launch, here it is. For manning the rails, they alternated Sailor and Marine .... kinda cool.

I'm going to do a series of posts, since I seem to go over the limit. So, here's one.
Oh god no. that would be terrible to be alone for both pregnancies!
You'll make it Mrs. B, you're a strong woman, I admire you!
So, today I got my lisence, and Saturday is Sadies withmy boyfriend, so I will post photos of the group probably Sunday! I thinkit will be alot of fun with tons of friends from my school. We're going to be a sharp lookin' group!!
wow! very emotional posts here! aj, i'm thinking about you and praying for you to gain strenght to make it through this difficult time. It was hard to see the kids go to BC and i know it must be ten times worse to say "goodbye" when they sail off into the sunset! i'm still blowing my nose thinking about it!! ugh! Like you said though...he will be so much richer for the journey. He will be a changed person but only for the good. He is becoming quite a man isn't he? You'll be so proud of him next time you see him and just think about the wonderful homecoming! woo hoo! we'll be celebrating with you! just know that we're all here for you and there isn't one person on here who doesn't feel your pain right now. Keep your chin up.....and keep posting.... sure will be interesting to know a little bit about sea life!
I talked to dyl's last night and he's soooo bummed! said that he thinks he might be on hold until October. He said that orders are going out slowly...over-staffing and lack of funds are keeping alot of kids in limbo. he is so ready to get on with his life and he's stuck....i think he would have rather been on the USS Boxer than be tied down to GL for another 8 months.
iris...what a snow storm! hope you have plenty of groceries and can make it through! lol!
Mary, i can't believe the dr didn't give you lipo and some boobs! you need to change dr's! ha! guess i won't be trying that stunt anytime soon since it doesn't work! hee hee!
DO... what a sad story about the "Carpenters".... how awful! i will definitely keep them in my prayers. i never really let myself think about the dangers of being in the service but they are truly there. just add one more thing to my list of things to worry about.... ugh!
gotta run girls....time to visit mom and sis. talk to you all soon! HUGS TO ALL!!
I know! OMG, how crippling is all that? I make fun of it just to help me cope with all the tards out there that will park there cars in the middle of the freeway because of 1/4 inch of snow. Lordy!!!!
Well, I need to don my Elmer fud hunting cap, scarf, gloves, snow boots, ski pants, long johns and wool socks. I'm taking out the trash today. Baaaa ha ha ha ha......
Anyhow, hope our blizzard helps you all appreciate your tepid weather. Chat with you all more later. =) HUGS!
