ok...i'm back...... dyl's didn't have much to say.  he thinks his
A school will be finished up by the end of the month and then he'll just wait on orders.  i think he's ready to get out of GL.  i'm hoping that spring will get his spirits back up....he seems a little down.....of course, it's been cold and rainy there and it's been in the 70's here and nice.  i'm sure he's missing the early spring we get here sometimes.  i've been taking yogi to the lake and taking long walks.  sure helps clear the head and i feel better too.  

oh yeah, i bought a "dancing with the stars" workout video.  I like Zumba but it gets a little pricey and i don't like getting home at 8pm on tues and thurs.  i just feel like all i'm doing is running here and there.  so we'll see how this video goes....

i'm gonna go for now..... i'll talk to ya soon......

Hey all!  Sorry it's been so long...ugh!  i think my old age is making me lazy!  ha!  so i quickly went back and scaned what i've missed.... good grief!!   I missed dances, fresh fruit, and picture taking?  Great pics Nicole!  and yes, i too dressed in jeans and western shirt at sadie....kids are so much more expensive these days!  lol!

So Mary, what's the deal.... are you pulling up your big girl panties or pulling them down for the "procedure"?    yes, you do need to go get that taken care of if it runs in the family.  an ounce of prevention....blah, blah.... however that goes.  **OMG -  i'll be right back****

ok... i'm back....had to go rescue the birdhouse.....yogi was chewing on it!  grrrr!

anyhow, so what's this bamboo therapy?   I think a good bamboo therapy would be using the bamboo rod upside the head of the person that's bugging you most. 

AJ-  nice pics of Costa Rica and the yummies!  wished i was there!  I really need a vacation!

Iris, the broken Roomba cracks me up!  I know you're frustrated but i was laughing my head off!  sounds like something i would buy!

GOOD NEWSSS!! Actually, its more like fantastic!

The guy i've been talking to, finally asked me out, tonight:)

He's in my Navy dep, so if you have me on facebook, don't say anything about it, gotta keep it on the down low so chief doesnt skin us alive and use us as ornimants for the office! but he is leaving june 6th to begin bootcamp, as a nuke.:)

i'm super excited for him!! just thought i'd share the update!

Hi LynB - Arenal is the one here that glows and flows lava .... the one in this picture is mostly smoke and ash, etc. ... and, it is about two hours away by car .... I like volcanos too .... predictions here are for this one in the photo to become far more active imminently ..... we shall see.  And I love those two points in the sky next to the Southern Cross ..... they are so, so bright ......... and guess what, I missed the man in the muscle shirt too ..... I have to go back and look at my own pictures again ..... geez!

 

Nicole .... I can well imagine your sweet grandma and her surprise party .... sounds like you did a great job pulling that off .... what a sweetheart you are.  And I love that you are sharing the pictures with her too .... so thoughtful of you.  I'll try to keep them coming.

 

Mary - I love that you are the one to notice the man in the muscle shirt!  Bonus for you!  I did take those pictures just for you guys that morning .... so glad to know that there were perks.  I'll post some more today (except we are supposed to lose internet service for about 5 hours today .... and this is the day that I had hoped to connect with Aaron on Skype ..... please don't let that happen in whatever window he can fit in.

 

Iris .... thank you for your thoughtful and encouraging words of support and understanding .... and for sure, I have to make that adjustment in my thinking, feeling, experiencing this whole thing.  I've been trying to take a look at all the reasons why it all leads with a sense of fear and loss ...... I am proud of him .... and it is selfish of me to want anything other than his happiness and his choices for himself.  

And you guys might find what you are looking for down here.  Guns are more the norm than not here .... they do not have a military here at all .... and the US Navy seems to do programs here a lot.  Not at all uncommon for people to be carrying guns.  I'm not sure what hunting is like here .... I'll have to find out what they hunt.

Okay - I'll see what pictures will be good for a Sunday post ... and do that in a bit.

AJ - thank you for indulging my abiding love for a smoking volcano :-)  There is just something magical about them.  Especially at night when you can see the glow in the dark.  So freaking cool.

 

Southern Cross - yep.  Which, when I finally figured out exactly which constellation it is, was a surprise!  I's not nearly as big as I expected...for an entire week long road trip up north in the outback I thought the two pointer stars were part of it since they are the brightest stars in the sky. :-)

 

Wait - I missed something.  Man in muscle shirt?!

Aj - I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pics. OMG the fruit. Drool! You are making the case for a possibly place for me to live. Except for the spiders. Eeeekkkk.... I HATE spiders. Will netting keep them out? Anyhow, keep posting, we love it.

 

Now for your son leaving in 3 days. I'm so sorry this has been a very stressful and sad time for you. Try to change your perspective and see if that doesn't help. Your son is an independent, confident young man, doing something that he is excited about and seems to like. That's awesome and it's you that helped shape him into that confident, independent young man. When he was growing up, what was your goal. To see him turn into a well adjusted, productive, happy man. You succeeded and now he's saying, Mom let me show you what you have helped make. He wants to prove to you that all your hard work and sacrifices, were worth it. Be proud, be happy for him and you. Make those tears one of pride, not loss. I hope that helps a little. I know this is a very difficult adjustment to make and it feels like it's so sudden, but we have to dig deep, put on the brave face and show our children we are so very proud of who they are. This is the next step in our jobs as Mothers. Hang in there sweetie. I'm always here to chat and help you though the sad/bad times. Hugs!

I also forgot to mention the tarantulas!  OMG have I got a picture for you.  Have to find it. 

Can you tell how much of a comfort you guys are?? .... knowing you are out there is incredibly reassuring right now.  You will get a bit of a break from me for a day or maybe two .... just found out we've got to drive over to the Caribbean side this morning .... kind of a cool drive through a rainforest and cloudforest .... and the other side is completely different ...... but rest assured, I have my camera if I haven't driven you crazy yet.  I feel like I'm talking to myself and repeating myself here now ...... so maybe it's good that I give you a break.  I have not forgotten about responding to you guys and your postings!

PLEASE KEEP POSTING ! I've been showing my Grandma these pictures and she says they are just wonderful. I'd love to say that my backyard is gorgeous, but it's not. unless your idea of gorgeous is a big pile of mud some left over snow banks brownish green grasses & obviously, very collldddd winds.

Forgot to mention the geckos, iguanas, monkeys, etc. that I could encounter in the dark ..... oh yes, it is a wild, wild world outside my window ........

And I forgot to post a picture for LynB of one of the volcanos spewing ash ..... this is Turrialba .... I took this at very early dawn, which is why the sky is so orange ...... and the quality isn't very clear, because I zoomed in a bit .... but you get the idea .... and some of that ash makes its way over here, but as you can see, the wind is carrying it away toward Nicaragua.

Seriously, girls, let me know when you've had enough of Costa Rica .... really.  I know that can go on and on and on and on ..... and don't want to become like someone's great aunt Maddy who wanted to show every single picture she ever took and tell every long and boring story that went along with it!
