It's Sensational Sunday - no letter writing today, communion bread is made, and finally I can catch up on the posts out here. Then it's off to choir practice and church!

Thanks Maureen! That's interesting, my husband never had to go to the Navy doctor or anything...LOL...it amazes me how each recruiting stations says and does different things. :)

Mrs B...D had a physical with a Navy Dr, but they also look through the medical history of the recruit. D had to request his medical file from our family Dr for the Navy Dr. Maybe she was complaining of problems or maybe her urine test came back showing something.

Hi Ladies,

I saw another lady on the N4M's site asking a new question, "daughter having a test done BEFORE leaving for boot camp that could cause possible kidney failure." (guess it's something the recruiting station is doing) Did any of your recruits/Sailors go thru such a test? She said her daughter had to sign a waiver. I know my husband never did any such test. Just wondering if any others had similar experiences as this lady.

***** Friendly reminders....
1 Remember, if you have a child coming to PIR, and they are UNDER 12 yrs old, you will need a birth certificate and a SS card, or you can use a school PICTURE ID with the SS card or a Military PICTURE ID with a SS card.
2. Good idea to pack some granola bars and maybe a bottle of water in case anyone gets hungry and some little NON noise toys to keep your little ones busy.
3. NO PICTURES CAN BE TAKEN OUTSIDE ON RTC BASE AT ALL ! Camera will be taken. Security reasons.
4. You can go over to the Navy Exchange after the PIR, while you are waiting on your SAILOR and go buy Division tee shirts, and all kinds of Navy things. If you want DIVISION PICTURES, when you enter the exchange, go to the RIGHT, and there will be a table there to get PIR DIVISION pictures. I believe this is the ONLY time you can get these pictures.
5 Remember to REMIND your SAILOR , ( even though they are briefed on this) that there is NO public display of affection that whole weekend. No kissing , no hand holding. You can take the crook of their left arm. ( Their right arm always has to be available for saluting).
6. Even if they go swimming in your hotel pool, they MUST wear the Navy issued swim suit.
7. While they are in your hotel room, they may wear civilian clothes , This is the ONLY time.
8. PLEASE make sure your SAILOR is back to the base on time. They WILL get into trouble for this. Better to be early then late.
9 IF your SAILOR is staying at GL's for A school, AND they are CHECKED into A school that weekend, they CAN have SOME personal items such as Ipod, phone, some civilian clothing, BUT, it MUST be in a BLACK back pack. No other color or writing on it.
10. Have a great PIR weekend :))

Afternoon Ladies !
No, Maureen hasnt fallen off the end of the earth...weekends are just crazy around here. Had a lot to catch up on with y'all though.
First, Congtrats to 943 !! Good job and HOOORAHHH !!! I know you 943 moms are just so proud !!
Like the idea of printing out our pictures, but how would we attach them ? Safety pins ?
Manager told me that we also will be given name tags, to put our names, state and Div number. Whatever you want really.
Dont forget your shout wipes ( for dress wipes), and a clean sheet to drape over in your car for them to sit on.
I am packing too, getting D's mail all together to bring to him plus all the goodies like ipod , laptop, cell phone and charger. Im also bringing some things I already knows he will need for A school. On the Corpsman group that I belong to, everyone has said that they get overnight liberty and these are from recent sailors that have graduated not too long ago. Hope that stands true.
Have lists and slowly checking it off. Gotta take dog to kennel on Wed, as we are leaving wed evening and trying to get a good part of our 8-9 hr trip done.
Remember NOT to drive through Chicago during rush hour if you can avoid it. I understand too that there is a lot of construction going on.
Weather for PIR looks GREAT !!! Sunny and in the 70's. Only day it looks like POSSIBLE rain is Sunday. Heres the link.

Personally, I am going to bring clothes that I can layer cause as you will see, there are different temps for that weekend. Ill also bring a light jacket. After the HOT summer we've had here in TN, cooler temps are more then welcome. !
Hope everyone has a great day !!
