~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Has anyone received their sailor's box of personal belongings yet? I haven't and am wondering if I should be concerned.

What some of us did was rented a car....but used Sarge's shuttle service to PIR ($3/pp each way). But we had the car for after PIR to do as we wanted to.  You can get some good deals on cars in the area so check out different car rental companies!

I also received a phone call from my son in div 945. It was great to hear his voice.

Hesh'sMom:  That will be pretty costly.  If you are going to rent a car, best to do it in either Chicago or Milwaukee, with Milwaukee probably being cheaper car rental.  Flights into Milwaukee may be cheaper too (check out Southwest Airlines....no change fee if your SR gets delayed....2 bags check for free).  Sarge's fee roundtrip from Chicago I believe is around $156, so add car rental to that and it can be a bit pricey.  However, those who get into GL by train or bus should find car rental cheaper in GL.  If you want, you can check out taking the train from the Chicago airports to GL and rent a car there.  That would be cheaper than using Sarge's service and then renting.

So if I understand what I have read, is it best to get a ride to Navy Lodge from airport by perhaps Sarge and then rent a car from that area?

I finally was able to talk to my daughter Saturday! She is in ship 03 div 293. She is doing great. She started crying when I picked up the phone and said I miss you and home! But I'm doing really good momma! Its comforting to know she's OK. She likes her shipmates and doing things as a team. I hope everyone got calls this weekend.
