N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My SR (nephew) arrived at BC on, Monday, 7/29/2013 and his recruiter said his PIR should be 9/20/2013.  Could this be right?  My SR's Mom (my sister) did not receive the letter yet.  She received the box yesterday.

I am a planner and it's killing me to wait to make airfare reservations, hotel reservations, etc.

Thanks all!

I received my letter the other day and was so happy to see that PIR is a week earlier than the recruiter told us it would be!

Knicky:  Good thing you are the type of person to keep copies of everything (me too!).  So many today trust websites to keep the copies of their personal papers....ummm.....I so do NOT trust that!  :-)

Welcome to the group, Nicole!  So glad you found it.  Be sure to read the PAGES section under the MEMBERS photo box towards the top right of the page.  Lots of info for you there.

Kmlee::  There is really no schedule for phone calls, even though your SRs may say they have a "scheduled" call on _____.  Although it is possible the call will come then, they could "lose" it or have it cancelled for another reason.  We tell you all to keep those phones glued to you during bootcamp for "unexpected" calls at anytime---even forwarding home phone to cell phone when necessary.  Please keep it with you in the bathroom and when getting the mail as well.  People in the past have missed calls during those times!

CatMom:  I love our God too!  :-)

Good Morning All !

Proud Navy Mom & PrayingNavyMomsHusband,

Just want to let you know that your SR's job --MM, EM, ET, IT, etc, is known as his/her "rating."   "Rate" refers to their pay rate:  E-1, E-2, E-3, etc...

Comment by CatMom509 on August 2, 2013 at 4:15am

mytwosons,

You're welcome!!  It's a very comforting scripture~~  I love that about our God!!

Form letter arrived today! Ship03 Div 354. What's next letter or phone call from my SR? Who else out the has a SR in this ship/div?
Comment by Knicky (Ship14Div351) on August 1, 2013 at 11:30pm

I was surprised at the call, but happy to hear his voice. Had to fax a bunch of information from his school professors onwards. I didn't even think they got the security clearance done that fast! I was told that he could be in A school before they even started (he is an IT). But luckily, I tend to keep copies of EVERYTHING and had the info all faxed within an hour of his call! :)
