Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

ProudNavyMom, his rate will be either MM, EM, or ET. Depends on first phase of nuke training.

Anyone else have a loved one in that division?! I have received his box, so exciting but it was a reminder that he is really gone. I did notice that his pants were cuffed. It made me smile! I have NOT received his letter but did get his address from his recruiter last Monday. My prayers are with all of our loved ones in bootcamp

Comment by Knicky (Ship14Div351) on August 1, 2013 at 3:42pm: LOL sorry, I deleted it but personally I think getting in trouble is part of the experience (getting in trouble) They are allowed to withhold mail even if they aren't "officially" allowed to do it. Even after we had someone trained they still wouldn't let them go collect it...so even though they weren't "holding" the mail it was just never collected.

Comment by Crys49ers on August 1, 2013 at 3:26pm: You also have to remember, the military's job is to break them down, all their bad habits and issues, and then to build them back up into soldiers. BC is a head game and as such, must be played to make them good soldiers. I was raised by a Marine, married Air Force and now my oldest in the Navy. Our SR's cannot take anything "personal" at this point and must stay strong.
