For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Comment by diannep on September 14, 2012 at 7:04pm: Leisa; Many who have driven said it isn't bad. This is a large group though, so the lines will be long. You would just need to be in the line EARLY in the morning...

Here are the hotels I know for sure use the PIR shuttle:

Residence Inn Waukegan, Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Ramada (I believe has it's own...), not sure about the others but I know that more do. The PIR shuttle is actually the taxi service that operates as shuttles that day ($3/pp each way-sailor usually returns with you for free).

I thought i read somewhere that the Navy Lodge has a shuttle to take you to PIR, but I just confirmed that is not true. Does anyone know where you can take a shuttle to the PIR, only asking because I heard to drive your car inside is a pain. Any info would be appreciated. thanks and have a great weekend!
