Celia: Milwaukee is usually cheaper - Southwest Airlines flies there - no change fee, first 2 bags check for free---car rental is cheaper in Milwaukee, traffic is non existent unlike Chicago.
Only thing is...the sailors fly out of Chicago--usually on Sat--- if going to another A School. You can still fly into Milwaukee, but be sure to book back Sunday or late Sat if flying from Milwaukee....if you plan an airport visit with your sailor.
If your sailor is staying in GL for A School, no problem. Then for sure check out Milwaukee rates. 45 minute drive to GL....from Chicago-Ohare...even with little traffic....at least 35-40 minutes....and from Chicago-Midway to GL....about an hour-- or more-- if traffic.
The scarves....those are a division thing. Some divisions like to pick a scarf color to wear at the MeetandGreets and at PIR so you all can recognize each other. Haven't seen the ladies doing that on the PIR groups in quite a while, but it is an option. It is nice for the MeetandGreets so you can recognize each other--at PIR, you should all be seating in the same division section so you would recognize each other there. I would suggest that brother divisions get the same scarf color since your sailors are all training together.
My sister in law had her son graduate boot camp last spring. She mentioned something about scarves, just wondering about that?
Also is it better to fly into O'Hare or Milwaukee?
No worries Diannep :-) Good Morning
Sorry about that, Lala! Knew that someone had posted that....thanks!
Good Morning all!
As you can see I changed my profile picture in honor of the 9-11 anniversary. Today we honor and remember those who lost their lives on 9-11-2001. I will never forget that day as long as I live. I was teaching/subbing in a high school health sciences class. Someone called the classroom and said for us to turn on the TV because a plane had crashed into one of the towers. We turned it on and we were all standing there watching in horror as a second plane crashed into the other tower. As we learned on the news what was happening we were all very scared for all the people in those building and whet this meant for our country. A girl in my class came up in tears and asked if she could call her dad. He was a high ranking Marine who was home on leave and normally worked at the Pentagon. She knew that all this meant he would be leaving and she wanted to tell him how much she loved him and to say goodbye. She tried over and over to reach him and got no answer. Just as I was about to let her go to the office to see if she could leave someone knocked on our door. I opened the door and her dad was standing there in uniform. He knew that she would know this meant he had to leave and he wanted to make sure she was okay and wanted to her how much he loved her. They cried, I cried, the whole class cried. It was such an emotional time and I will never forget how I felt that day. I had an overwhelming need to go to the elementary school and pick up my own children and take them home and hold them tightly in my arms. My sailor was just 11 years old and now it is so hard for me to believe she is a grown woman and serving our country as a Sailor and works every day to protect our rights, our freedom and our country. Today, I honor all of those who died that day and all of those who have died fighting for our freedom and I also honor all of the military and their families for making the choice to take care of all of us. God Bless them all.
Lala, that is funny that they brought blankets, lol.
That was me that posted that :-) I saw lots of people using the stadium seats and cushions and some brought blankets and quilts to sit on. I know it wasn't because they were worried about being cold because it was in July lol
Thanks Diannep :-)
