Welcome to PIR 09/28/2012!

OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Yes, calling cards were supposed to be sent with the SRs. Atleast that is what I read in the items to pack so our SR has one. I'm a newbie mom so I don't know what they do if they don't have a calling card. Maybe another recruit could help out...

I totally agree about Lala's ribbons.  Rave reviews on those!  Click on her name or pik icon below and go to her page.  You can message her from there.

Jolene check out Lala's website. uniquememorymakers.com I think you can get it off of her personal page on Navy for moms. I ordered mine this morning and a cute key chain

What is this about ribbons? :) I am totally clueless.

Will do diannep!  Also I will just add that if anyone is sitting on the fence about ribbons..I didn't order them & regretted it SO much when we got to GL & I saw them & how great they are.  They were also helpful at the meet & greets.

Glad to see you dropping in on here, turtle!   Please be sure to check in on the 800 discussion groups above also.

pagetoday:  Do you mind deleting your 946 discussion group above?  FTLW had already started one and it is best to just have one per division.  Please join her group!  Thanks!

Welcome, GUMBY!  So glad you found the group!

Good Morning all!

cristyg, it is never too early to order ribbons. Well, unless you don't know the PIR date and DIV lol. The earlier the better.

I saw that someone was waiting to book flights, rental car and hotel until the halfway point. I know most people do that especially with the flight and car but as far as the room goes you can go ahead and book that so that you can get the hotel you want. Most of the hotels up there allow you to change or cancel your reservation up until the day you are supposed to arrive with no fees at all. So it is best to book now. You really don't want to book the hotel with an online site for booking everything together because if you do have to change things you lost likely will not get that money back.

We made it back home last night, it was an emotional time leaving her there especially since she was crying and so were we. I really think going through the bootcamp experience made it a little bit easier because I know it will still be hard but not nearly as bad as bootcamp. I know I can talk to her everyday and send care packages and go for a visit if I want so that helped a lot. My hubby had a very hard time with it, poor thing :-( I have a feeling we will be going to see her for parents weekend the end of September :-)

I'm including a Bible verse or two in every letter, also. We think alike, Shelly! :)

I ordered Navy sweatshirts from the CallsForRecruits.com store on Amazon.com. All the proceeds go toward sending recruits free phone cards.

Hi ladies, my Sailor PIR'd 7/6 with div 815. If I can help answer any questions I'm happy to help & share how it went for us.
