N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My SR was up all night ironing and was awarded a phone call. We got to talk for a full five minutes. It is such a good day! Just stay strong everyone!

@heymomlpn I'm a nurse also.. It is really hard not being there for them and know physically and mentally they are broken down right now.. Kept telling her it will get better. I'm a psych nurse.. And had no idea what to say to make her feel better.. I so hope she gets our letters soon to help her through this.. She said if they set her back she is giving up. I hope I said the right things to her.:(

Melissa & heymomlpn,

Praying for both your SRs recoveries and return to full activities on their way to PIR~~

Heymomlpn: What does LLD mean? I looked it up on navy speak and couldn't find the definition. I will say prayers for your son!

Comment by diannep on August 24, 2013 at 2:21pm

heymomlpn:  Awww....that is a hard call to get.  Sounds like they need to assess his condition to see if he can heal and work through it.  I know that places him and you "in limbo."  So hard, but keep the faith!  Some in past groups have even been hospitalized and STILL graduated with their PIR group.  The goal up there is to make the SRs into sailors and they staff will do their best.  We have seen some question the reasons their SRs have been sent home in the past...and that part is hard.  But try and remain optimistic...Hoping he can write you soon and tell you he is back to training and doing fine.  It is good that he said he is doing ok and sounds like himself....that is HUGE at this point.  So cling to that!

Comment by diannep on August 24, 2013 at 2:17pm

Melissa:  Have everyone start writing her lots of letters...full of encouragement....I know she is frustrated about her knee, but injuries happen there and they sometimes don't even mean the SR has to be delayed in graduating---they work through it.  She can rise above this.  This is very common at the beginning of bootcamp...blisters from the boots, other injuries, recuperation from wisdom teeth extraction for some, illnesses, lots of yelling, feeling they can do nothing right...all very normal at this point.  It won't last.  It DOES get better but they need lots of encouragement from home!  Get friends to write too, even mentors (teachers, coaches, etc) who believe in them.  I did that for my son (asked a couple of his favorite teachers to write) and he especially appreciated their letters.

Hang in there....

Comment by diannep on August 24, 2013 at 2:08pm

Yes, Marcelle:  Your division/brother division were the last to fill and are the last two in this PIR group.  They will be the last to finish training.  That is probably why your letter is so late.

I think once you get that first personal letter from your SR and better yet, a phone call, you will feel much better!  It's coming!
