N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

...I should clarify that the final PFA is given during the last week before PIR, so obviously none in this group would have taken that yet.  They take the PFA (Physical Fitness Assessment) 3 times during bootcamp....first 2 are practice, but they must pass the 3rd one in order to do BattleStations and graduate.  If they don't pass this by Wed of PIR week, they are kept in FIT to keep trying 3 times a week until they do.  At that time, they do BattleStations and then head to A School (no PIR then once they miss their own).

doubletrouble.  There are regular divisions housed in Ship 4, so don't worry.  Your son would not be in FIT Division (where they go if they don't pass their final PFA and train until they can pass).

Good Morning All !

Try not to worry Marcelle, Like they keep telling us no news is good news .

I have a good feeling we will both get our letters today :)

Can any of the veteran moms give me any insight into ship 4? I read on this site it is normally for SR's that need help passing their FIT or are having some sort of difficulty, but could also house regular divisions. I'm a little concerned because one of my twins is ship 4. I haven't received a personal letter from him yet so I don't know of any problems. Any info would be great.

Ginnysue,

For Sailors attending A school at Great Lakes, the Saturday and Sunday of PIR weekend will be part of their liberty time in addition to Friday afternoon from about 3:00 or 4:00 pm to about 9:00 pm.  They will need to return to RTC each evening about 9:00 pm and cannot stay overnight in your hotel with you.

It won't matter that October 14th is Columbus Day.  When PIR was moved to July 3rd this year, the Sailors were not given the Fourth of July as an extra liberty day.  All the Sailors that flew out to their A schools traveled on July 4th, just like it was a regular day after PIR.  Not sure why this happened, but that's what happened.  With the Navy, we all have to get away from certain special days, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.. we just have to remember the events, not the actual days and celebrate accordingly~~

So for you, it is a happy coincidence that your SR's birthday happened to fall on PIR weekend and he is an A school attendee at GL!!

Yes!!!! It's tough for sure! I made all the arrangements for graduation and sooo nervous that something could happen an he doesn't graduate when he is suppose too. I had a horrible nightmare last night about him being "taken" by someone and he's been missing for 2 weeks... Go figure that's exactly how long he's been gone.. Funny how our minds work. I am SO proud of him and would be devestated for him if something did happen, but as a mother missing her first born, it's hard:( I definately feel Better reading the other posts of moms that are going through the same feelings and emotions. Cheers navy moms and dads!

My SR left on 8/13 and received the box on Friday but still waiting on the letter. Why is it taking so long?
