WELCOME TO PIR 10/12/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good morning my Navy Family,  You make me feel sooooo special.  I woke up this morning and checked my phone and I had 42 messages in my mailbox :)  Of course they weren't my personal messages but nevertheless I feel a part of something really amazing.  Really missing my guy this morning but I am blessed to have you all here to share with big hugs for everyone

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC apply to the Discussion Forum area as well. The Division Discussions are viewable to all...just like the Main Wall here. Please do not start new Division Discussions.

Discussion Forum Area

This is the place to start a Discussion about a topic and for your Division Discussions.

The Discussion Forum area is set to show titles only and is set at ten titles at a time for now. (This can be adjusted by the group creator or an administrator)

It is also set to show the "latest activity"(there are other settings). So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" that Discussion to the top. The discussion will stay up there at the top because it has had "activity"…until the next Discussion has activity. If there are over ten discussions, whatever is at the bottom will disappear from view…but not from the Discussion Forum. So, if you want to see more, click "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.

To "bump" up a discussion to the first spot of the DF area when you don't really want to add a reply...in other words someone is looking for it...just type whatever you want in the reply box and click "add reply". I just type one letter or even a period and add the reply.

When you view a DF by clicking on the title, the first post ever made will be the first one on the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply” directly underneath that particular Discussion.

Example (Last Reply is underlined)

Ship 4 Divisions 303 & 304 (brother divisions)

Started by ellen0502(Son @ A School GL). Last reply by Nina 1 hour ago. 12 Replies3Likes+1

You will also notice that in the top right corner in any post that you do you will see an "x". This is so you may delete your post if you need too. You will also see the “x” on any post you make anywhere else on the site.

Good Morning!

We have posted your Division Discussions up above. Please use them to get to know each other even better on a "Divisional" basis...BUT remember that you all have the same PIR date and many of you will be attending the same Meet and Greets...so please continue to post on the Main Wall here...you all have developed such a nice group!

Also, please continue to post your questions for us "veteran moms" on the Main Wall here. We have 7-8 active PIR groups going at one time..that's 70-80 Divisions! We try to get to the Division Discussions but with that many it is difficult! We don't want to miss any questions as ALL are important...no dumb ones...for many of you this is your first servicemember and we want to be there to help and lend support.

BP's Mom - Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net...ummm...ugh...ooo...no I don't think I would send those. I can't say 100 % "send" so it would be a "no" in my opinion. Save 'em for when you see him in person.

You are all welcome for the Boot Camp Questionnaire info. I can't take the credit for "creating" the idea though :-)...I printed up many and put mine together based on that. There is a link to my own personal one and to many that I found on here. You can also use the N4M Search Engine to find more! The Search Engine is up at the VERY TOP right hand corner of any page that you are on.

Welcome to all the new Members this week!

Please make sure you go to PAGES and read the posts there. PAGES only displays up to 10 items so click "View All" at the bottom right of the PAGES column to see all of them. PAGES is located directly underneath all of the Member Photos to the right of the Count Down Clock up above (there is a spinning blue arrow pointing to it)...you will see a Blue Bar that says "Pages". There is LOTS of Info there for you!

No worries Kellee.

My son is also staying in GL through Thanksgiving, as well as most of his (single) buddies. I think they all are trying to save their days for Christmas.

Like you, this will be the first Thanksgiving my son has not been home and he will be 27. It will be harder on me than on him I am sure.

Thank you Ellen! I realized I deleted my post by accident.
Comment by ellen0502 on September 1, 2012 at 2:07am

Kellee, Your son should be phased by Thanksgiving and able to do things off base with his buddies if he wants to.

Right on base, the MWR has a movie theater (Ross Theater), first run movies and $2 tickets (3D movies $4).  A bowling alley with video games, pool tables and pizza. Several restaurants, Sam Adams brew club with TV's, McDonalds and more

I am sure your son will find something to do. :)
