Hello, I was wondering how do the SR get paid? My SR is at boot camp, and she left on 08/13/12. Also, what week is this for her? I have not received a personal letter yet, nor a phone call but hoping for one really soon. I miss her so much, and wondering if she is okay.
This might have been discussed already but, I'm looking for ideas fro a PIR gift for our son. Any ideas anything off limits?
Thanks!

you can book online
Yay SubDad!!! Hopefully he is doing good!
Quick question for everyone. I made reservations at the Comfort in (the brochure that came with the Form Letter listed it). Does anyone know if this is a ok choice before it's too late to change it?
Thanks!
Several of us veteran moms have stayed at the Navy Lodge in GL. I would stay there again. It is located in the family housing subdivision (not on base) and the staff there is friendly and very helpful. It does not have a pool, but we found we didn't have time for one.
They have a bag breakfast every morning, bagel, cream cheese, granola bar and orange juice. Perfect to take with you to PIR on Friday. There is not a restaurant at the hotel, but again we were eating at other places so it didn't matter. You also receive a NEX card (limited purchase no alcohol, no tobacco) to use at the convenience store by the hotel and at the NEX off base. You do not have to have your sailor with you.
FTLW has a post about the Navy Lodge that will soon be incoming.
I haven't stayed at the Navy Lodge in GL, but I can say that the one in Pensacola was awesome! We stayed at the Residence Inn for boot camp graduation and it was very nice and clean. We had a full kitchen and living area and I do know that it is also pet friendly. If you are going as a family, it's great because they have breakfast every morning and on weeknights, (Mon-Thurs) some food for dinner, as well.
All are good, but many mixed reviews on the Ramada. I personally opted for the Residence Inn as I like the Marriott chain and it is near to many things. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices. I booked early to ensure I got what I wanted. If TG 48 is as big as I'm reading, rooms will book quickly!!! I googled the hotels and put in the address of my son's ship...maybe 5 miles apart. I wasn't too concerned on the distance - Waukegan is right outside GL gates.
Tripadvisor.com is a great resource for reviews. :)
Hope this helps!!!
