Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 10/12/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

When he put his intended guests he wrote Mom, Dad, Grandma, Brother ~ makes sense to me but obviously not the names on our government issued ID's! What was he thinking??

This can be changed, right? Talk me down...

Comment by diannep on August 29, 2012 at 8:15am: We N4Moms veterans recommend you attend Sarge's MeetandGreet if possible at the Sundance Saloon. He is full of info for your weekend and a great help to many during that time. If your sailor will be staying in GL for A School and won't have a car, I bet he/she will learn about Sarge really quickly! He provides transportation around town and to the airport for the sailors there. They all know and love him!

All 3 of the MeetandGreets are family friendly so bring the kids!

It may sound corny, but for the Meet and Greet, I think I'm gonna make a sweatshirt that has my N4M user name on the front, and my real first name and "Navy for Moms" on the back. What do y'all think?
