Hey Sub Dad 1... My son is also Ship 11 Div 33.
Have you recieved a phone call yet?
Welcome in Sub Dad 2 :}
Hi subdad2 my son's in Ship9 Div 327. He called today for some security info and he said they all wrote letters on sunday so we should receive mail sometime this week! He also said they were on week 1 day 3. They are getting well fed but not much sleep - he didn't elaborate on that as we didn't have much time. He sounded good, he said it was all that he thought it would be. Great to hear from him, I've been on a high all day. The call lasted 5 glorious mins :)
Hi all - I am a Dad but you gals have some great info here so I'm gonna hang out with you if that's ok! My recruit is in Ship 9 Div 327. I have learned so much reading this thread the last few days. Sure appreciate all you vets' input. Everything appears to be on schedule with mine so far - got box after a few days and form letter a few days later. He better have written me yesterday! Or at least his momma - that would be best actually if he only got one letter off :)
People say Milwaukee is a litter further away but quicker journey as there's no traffic like Chicago. Might be good for Grandma - no stress with traffic waits. I've looked at both and for me to fly from Florida it's more expensive to fly to Milwaukee than Chicago for some reason but car hire is 1/3 of the price at milwaukee compared to Chicago - so which ever I do I think it will work out about the same cost. Only thing about Chicago is when our Sailors go on to A school they usually fly out of Chicago airports. It's hard to to know what to do. I'll probably fly in to Chicago.
We were able to get the Hilton Garden Inn Lake Forest for around $89.00 a night.
Still have yet to get Air yet...Comming from Washington State could be spendy?.
I am going insane waiting for the form letter. It still isn't here and my son got to GL on the 14th. Kid in a box got here on the 17th....Ugh!!!!
Navy lodge just need cc to hold - think that's the same with all hotels. They don't usually charge you until you check out
