For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 10/12/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

When I got my first call the night he arrived it came at 2am.. and all he said was I am here, the box is in the mail, and I love you.. I am so impatiently waitng to hear his voice this is the hardest thing I have ever had to do.. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that has not got another call.. The form letter was post marled 8/16 and I recieved it 8/24 it took 8days to get here..

Guess I got spolied by getting my kid in a box 3 days after he arrived at GL. I am not very patient. It's all good though!!

People who aren't dog lovers think I'm crazy for taking in all my fosters like I do but I just can't help it. Even my kids complain including my SR. A few months back I took in a dachsund mommy and her 6 -3 day old babies. He told me I was crazy and NO he didn't need to see them. Later that evening I was checking my FB page and there was a pic he'd posted on his FB page of the babies with his comment "look what I'm fostering for GCHS" - he had a ton of posts from girls all wanting to come round and see them. lol. Smart kid :)
