WELCOME TO PIR 10/12/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Just got my tickets from Southwest Airlines from FL to Midway for just under $300 each. They are not refundable but I can change the date if I need to.

Ok, going to attempt the 2nd floor shutters myself now....son "MIA" working so....I'll have to conquer my fear of climbing the ladder and get er done!  Thanks for the prayers!

Too funny, SubDad.....Dive dive dive....not worried about the rain in our area as much as the wind.  After going through Hurricane Andrew and having water in 95 percent of our house.....even with shutters (came in through roof), and having our house back after over $100,000 in insurance money....I'm a bit skittish!  Have no more insurance because it got too expensive down here....soooo....I need to really prepare!

Only8Weeks:  Bring the kids!  All of the MeetandGreets are family friendly!

Also, Lala, FTLW and I believe ellen stayed at Navy Lodge.  All said it was great.  Only 1.5 miles from RTC.  No shuttle, but not far to drive.  You can request one with a kitchenette if some are still available.

Comment by diannep on August 25, 2012 at 5:44pm

BJ:  We took the shuttle from Residence.  It was wonderful.  We left on the 6:30 and were in our seats a little after 7.  There were already lots there, even though it doesn't really start until 9.  Top row of bleachers in our section already full (you can lean against a wall up there).  So I recommend all get there early!

Others have taken their cars and said that is fine too.  But you will need to leave early to get in the car lines.  We had no shuttle line (bypasses cars) and we were the second people to go through security....no wait time.

Rachel:  Refundable tickets are very expensive.  Does Southwest fly from your area?  If so, check their fares into Milwaukee (45 minutes to GL) and Chicago-Midway.  They have no change fee and the first 2 bags check for free.  Milwaukee usually is cheaper, even on car rental, and less traffic!

Comment by diannep on August 25, 2012 at 5:40pm

mommaross:  Fingers crossed and prayers for all of us in the storm's way!  Still waiting for my son to return from work to finish the 2nd story shutters....glad yours are up!

BJ:  When it gets closer to time, you can RSVP to Sarge's MeetandGreet.  FTLW will put up a place to do that, I'm sure, later on.  Sarge just likes to have a general idea of the number of people for the food he provides (out of pocket!).
