OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Finally found out my son's ship and division!  His is Ship 2 Division 948.  I still haven't received his box or the letter, but I got the information from the recruiter.  He didn't know his PIR date, but I am assuming it is 10/12!  Glad to see some of y'all have a child in the same ship and division!!

My step daughter is in ship 2 division 948. We got our 15 second phone call Wednesday night letting us know she made it there safely. Sounded like she was reading a script. We got her box yesterday also. Thanks to whoever shared what the difference is between the divisions. I had been wondering. We are looking forward to hearing from her again soon by either letter or phone to see how things are going.

charlie:  The 900 divisions are the performing divisions....but some are in there who don't have musical/marching talent, but will be be handling other duties at PIRs like tending to the VIPS, etc.  Since they have to practice for this and still keep up with studies/training, they usually select SRs in that group who have the higher ASVAB scores, we have been told, knowing that they would be able keep up with everything.

The other special division could be an 800 division.  That is the Special Operations division.  They are not always in a PIR group....but lately, they have been having them.  So this group could have one.

The remaining divisions are made up of SRs with all different kinds of jobs in the Navy.
