WELCOME TO PIR 10/12/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Prayer of an Unknown Confederate Soldier,

I asked God for strength that I might achieve.
I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health that I might do greater things.
I was given infirmity that I might do better things.
I asked for riches that I might be happy.
I was given poverty that I might be wise.
I asked for power that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life.
I was given life that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I asked for, but everything I hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among all men, most richly blessed.
The Prayer of an Unknown Confederate Soldier

My son was about to call today again (331) he said he was just hanging out in some recreation area. IDK if he earned some special privledge, but I sure was happy, and he sounded great.

He also said 327 will be making calls tomorrow - keep your phones close by :)

I just had a call from my Sailor Woooo hooo.  He earned a 15 min call for having the shiniest boots - his grandpa would be proud, he taught him well.

LoriM:  The sailors will be told before they leave what they can and cannot do.  Yes, no drinking, but I would think he can watch the sports in there, but he will know that.  So will the people in the USO.

For those who asked for Liz and Kurt to send her A School check list, she has posted it above in the Discussion Forum:  "A school common sense list"

Hey everyone! Just got a call from my hubby!!! He sounds so great. He said to be expecting a call tomorrow between 2-3 pm cuz they get a lot of free time tomorrow and he is gonna be calling away. So I'm guessing a lot of you will be getting calls too. So that's awesome!!! :-) he kept saying I miss you and said " I can't stop saying it!" lol. Just wanted to let everyone know and I hope you all get calls as well. God bless and stay strong! :-)

Liz and Kurt thank you so much for the info.   I hope you had a great time with your Sailor at PIR.  I can't wait to see mine.

diannep thank you for the airport info.  We wouldn't leave the airport but it is at least nice to know that you can walk  around it.  Also, I know they are not allowed to drink but can they (the Sailors) go into sports bars.  I know he would love to watch some sports being it would be Sat.
