WELCOME TO PIR 10/12/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Cruise book/Keel book - spoke with Nex photo place this morning and usually you have to buy the book - but there's a special on right now so our guys and gals that ordered the package photos will be getting the book in the mail as part of that package.  I'm not sure what it is but I told my son to order everything :)

Not sure where is the best place to post this but my Sailor's grandmother received a call yesterday saying he was arrested and she needed to send bail money. I am trying to confirm that my son is in fact where he is supposed to be but not having any luck with contacts at the NAVY yet. We are pretty sure this is a scam from what the Red Cross has told us. Just a warning - the scammers tend to call the grandparents and other relatives of the Sailor's who may not recognize the Sailor's voice (the caller will say they have a bad cold). Please warn your family members to be aware this scam is occuring, to report any such calls to their local police department IMMEDIATELY, and to not send any money.

My son left on Saturday for So Carolina, anyone else? Wasnt the PIR fabulous? I was so thrilled that my son was a "stick" (carried one of the flags) so he was right in front.  I took lots of pics of 338 if anyone wants a copy.  I have to say my son was happy with BC, loved almost all of it.....its so nice to KNOW that he is happy and made the right choice!! mommaross:  Do that right away....I tried to order The Keel (cruise book) after I returned home from PIR back in 2010 and they said it was too late.  Hoping that you still can!

Thanks BP's mom that helps - checked his receipt and cruise book isn't checked - there's a number on there so I'll call tomorrow.  Thanks again.  Love that we can still come here to "our group" .

Hi mommaross! I'm looking at my son's receipt...he ordered Pkg. A but when you look further down the receipt each item is on it's own, so for example my son ordered Pkg. a with the Division Picture @ $20, DVD/Video @ $29, etc. The Cruisebook which I would assume is the Keel Book is not checked which leads me to believe it has to be ordered separately. I had read in previous posts that package A DID include the keel book so you weren't dreaming. As of now we do not have the book or DVD - my son said the DVD was going to be sent here. Not sure if that helps or only confuses things!! :)

Comment by mommaross CVN77 on October 16, 2012 at 6:41pm

My son ordered package A and the dvd.  I had read somewhere about a keel book.  Am I right?  If so is this something we have to order seperately or does it come as standard as part of the packages?  My son didn't know what I was talking about - so I could just be that I dreamt about a keel book! :)  Any suggestions anybody? thanks
