Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 10/12/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I am sitting at my hotel for a little bit after today's PIR, and wanted to share a few things I learned today that I wished I would have paid more attention on NFM site. First, this site is awesome, glean as much information as you can. Secondly, ATTEND a meet and greet; there is a great deal of information covered and it will make your trip much more worthwhile. If you have a SR in a 900 division, know that they don't march. They are working the graduation and will be spread out throughout the auditorium. You can see them, but do not distract them from their jobs. Bring Kleenex. You will be so overwhelmed with pride and joy that it is an emotional day all around. If you sit in the bleacher section, sit all the way back, if you sit in the first row, you will not get a full view of the incredible experience that our sons and daughters have worked very hard to prepare for the graduation. Bring a book. Take the Sheridan Road to the gate entrance, you will save about an hour of wait time. I am going to pick up my son and will share more later if anyone wants to know more.
