For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 10/12/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Planning my outfit thought of a nice dress but the weather is changing. Very hard to pack since we're in the 90's down here I will not be prepared for this cold weather.

Then he called back to speak to his brother and sister that were back home from school to give them the news too...of course he said since there was a phone available. Very nice of him to do this he knows everyone was excited to call home.

I am so happy for everyone who is getting their "Sailor" calls. Every time I read someones post... I get teary eyed.... I am just so proud of all of our SR's....

Comment by diannep on October 5, 2012 at 2:55pm: Hmmmm.....it's about 90 degrees down here ....but it cooled down to 81 last night! :-) Yep, gotta love the long long summers in S. FL...we are more than ready for a cool down and a drop in the humidity, but not likely for a few more weeks, if not longer...

When we went to PIR....it was in the 20's. So actually 45 sounds pretty good!
