Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 10/12/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by SEA's mom on October 4, 2012 at 1:49pm: Diannep is right--I got the "I didn't pass my run for my PFA call on Tuesday night. I've not heard since then so I'm hoping the kid either passed or whatever, not even sure what I'm waiting for....fingers crossed.

On the flip side--gorgeous weather for PIR--60, sunny, perfect but a bit chilly--layers are still a good idea.

I'm a Sailor calls for 327-330 could be starting in a couple of hours.

I am keeping my phone on the charger so I am already for a phone call this afternoon! I hope it comes and she is not on watch.

Diannep - as usual you have great advice for us. I wouldn't have thought about asking if the whole division passed, because I wouldn't have thought about some being on watch! Thank you once again!!
