WELCOME TO PIR 10/12/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

JustinMom:  My son went to Meridian for A School back in early 2010.  Short A School (only about 2 mos) but then he and the others were on hold there for about a month afterwards until they could get their written orders and go on LEAVE.  Frustrating time for those sailors who just wanted to get HOME!

Blessings to your new sailor!  I'm going to miss your daily Bible verses!

SailorB-Man:  So sorry about that.  Yes, many times, they are told that families cannot meet them there....but that is really only for those on charter flights.  Maybe he was on one?  If not, yes, you could have gone.  Don't know why they tell the sailors this....so sad.  The sailors are there without the RDCs (they are done with them by then) and are under the supervision of the USO, sort of.  They can hang out in the USO...some who have flights later in the day actually have left the airport with family to sightsee for a while.  USO personnel tell you to make sure they are back 3 hours before flight time though.

Well, hoping you can pay a visit during A School!

Hi everyone! Pic's of our PIR were posted by the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command on Facebook yesterday.  So look for your sailors!  Congrats to all our Sailors!  We had a great time!

My son is at San Antonio for MA. Did not go to airport because he was told by the officiers that they really didn't want parents there which I understood because of all the kid who graduated so we did what he asked and look where it got me. No phone calls, no communication, no news. UGH!!!!!!!!!

Macsmom - I have a cool pic of all of them at the airport waiting to check in.  Did he leave from Midway and get dropped at airport Sunday 2.00am.  If so I'll send you the pics I took.  My son called me this AM he said if they don't class up in 2 weeks then it will be Jan for him.  He's ATTC or NATTC - i think, I was just so happy to be talking to him.  What is your son doing?
