N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

So I have a question for the "veteran moms".  The zip code (the last 4 digits) on my son's formal letter do not match the zip he has on his return address on the personal letter he sent me today.  I sure hope he has been receiving my letters.  Which one should I go by from now on?

I am going to ask here and then go to the FB Mom's if no one knows.........I finally received my form letter Monday still no box, today I was suppose to renew minutes on her phone by today since she is not on my plan.  My question is if I do not get the box what then - I know she was going to send it and I know it was to me and my address...... ????

Raqi'smom:  You may want to ask those questions on the specific HM group on here also.  You might get more specific answers there.

Good mornternoon everyone! :)

So, looking at the next PIR group and seeing that division 410 is part of the 11/01 group that would mean this groups divisions are correct.

If all holds true when posted by the RTC this TG has 11 divisions that would mean 4 guests. Now, cross your fingers this holds true!

anyone know about FMF? Do all male corpsmen have to be FMF? Do they have an  option to be just regular HM or HMDA? Where will FMF stationed? what is the advantage and disadvantage of being one? Thanks

Got my first PERSONAL letter today!! Shampoo in his personal drawer had spilled all over his original one he wrote to me, so he had to write a quick one on Sunday, after church, before chow and then watch. (lol) Sooo heartwarming to read my son's short but sweet letter. He sounds like he is doing great and I'm so, so glad, but now I have "those emotions" all  over again......

Good Morning Everyone!

I called AT&T yesterday and they were able to suspend my SR's phone without any issues.  I just explained that she was in BC and they didn't ask for any type of written documentation.  I asked how far in advance I would need to call to reactivate the account and was told it could be done immediately upon calling.  I am planning on re-activating the day before we fly out for PIR to allow time to fix any unexpected problems.  We have a family plan with three phones on the account, so I will be checking our next bill to see what the impact is.

My son is on Verizon and his phone is suspended for 3 years with repeat activation and repeat suspension at no charge. While he was in BC a year ago Verizon had no issue suspending his phone for up to three months no charge.

I know three months isn't generally a lot of money, but it really is the principle of the matter. Don't be afraid to ask the rep to speak to a supervisor (even the supervisors supervisor) and escalate the call. Be persistent!

I know we all have to choose our battles, but this ticks me off when I hear of a company that won't "help" our service members.

Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA).
