Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Welcome peridia!  Glad you found the group!  Just to let you know...if you see anyone post from Div 405, they train with 406 so your SR will know SRs in both divisions...you may want to get to know the moms who post on here from those 2 divisions!

NewbieNavyMom,

Hi, if that w name is a last name, could you please delete it?  You could put male SR with blonde hair (red hair, dark brown hair) initials are AW who is from Los Angeles.  Then if a mom recognizes that is her SR, you could Friend each other and reveal full names and all on your Private Messages to each other.

Hello to all, I'm new to the group. My son is on ship 14 DIV 400. Received a call today! So nice to hear his voice. Seems as though he's adjusting to a new life. BC is hard, but it will be a great accomplishment.

Thanks for posting that, Idaho.  Sarge is so very helpful to the Navy families there.  He is retired military (Army) himself and has been in that area for a very long time...his shuttle service is a great help to the A School sailors.  He hosts the MeetandGreet for the families the night before PIR.  Free food for you all (he accepts any donations if you want to make any when there since he/his wife pay for this out of their own pocket, get some of the food from restaurants, and make some themselves).  This is the most well-attended MeetandGreet (there is one at Ramada too).  He gives out great info during this MeetandGreet.  He also has a shuttle service to/from the airports, to/from PIR, and around town for those who need it.

Anyone wanting to contact Sarge can do so at 847 212 0246 (he texts too), or....email:   johnspadaro@att.net.   He will be happy to answer any questions you have.
