N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Ladies,

Just to let you know, rating is your SR's job (IT - Information Services Technician, MA - Master of Arms, etc,,,) and rate is the pay level (E-1, E-2, etc..)

Friends,

Also want to let you know that you can put your SR's cell phone on Military Suspension for the 2 months that he/she wiil be in Boot Camp.  Just contact your cell phone carrier after your SR has made his/her "I'm Here" call and the phone is on its way back to you in The Box or any time after you get it back.  You can do this for free and it will save on the monthly charges on that phone.  You can re-activate it for the day before PIR.  I was able to easily re-activate my daughter's cell phone online at Verizon Wireless.

MommaJ:  Try and stay through the weekend, just in case your sailor doesn't fly out on Sat.  Sometimes they don't, although most will.  Those with sailors staying in GL for A School, book out late Sunday or Monday.  You will have daytime liberty with your sailors through the weekend!

Try Southwest for travel arrangements, into either Milwaukee (45 min to GL) or Chicago Midway (hour+ to GL).  If you have to change, there is no change fee, 2 bags check for free.  Milwaukee will have less traffic.

Make sure to call hotels directly....and ask for their Navy Grad discount.  Navy Lodge is very reasonable.  Many have enjoyed their stay there.  You book that one in your SR's name (tell them it is for graduation).  Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express....all in Waukegan/Gurnee....are good hotels also.  Good reviews on here.  Close to Sarge's MeetandGreet, held for you all the night before PIR.

My Sailor is home YAY, only for one night  :( But I will take what I can get!!! They went to a family reunion in IN to see her hubby's grandmother who is in her 90's. So I got a few hours with them on the way there last Friday and now a day with them on their way back to VA. I have been soaking in all the baby love I can get. Don't ya just love a smiling, sleeping baby? This is Eastyn, my Sailor's baby. She is just over one month old and the love of my life <3
