~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

NavyMom429: Thank you for the congrats! I will pass them on to my son when I write him tonight and give him all his sports updates. He is in div 952.

Kristin (Ship 14 Div 426) The list can be changed until one week before PIR. Here is what the Recruit Training Command site says: "It is the recruit’s decision whom to place on the access list. Please communicate with your recruit well before the final week of training to be sure the right names are on the list. The Public Affairs Office does not have a copy of the access list as they names on the list are not divulged to the public. No additions, deletions or changes will be made to the access list the week of graduation."

Their final list for graduation is turned in sometime in the last couple weeks of BC, so soon. It probably won't be this week, but I would think the next week sometime.

Thanks! That gives us a little window, anyway. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. Lol!

Can someone refresh me on when SR needs to know the guests for sure?  My daughter may not be able to attend (has finals in college) so I was trying to get my dad to come, but he has not yet responded.

vikingmom: So I'm not the only one with lists? I have one that has things broken down week by week for the next 3 weeks so I don't forget anything. Well anything that's on the list anyway. There was a suggestion some where about an index card to send to your SR to have them write down all the airport info you will need such as flight and gate number. If you haven't seen it I can post it here for you since I wrote it all down. Other than that we have the same list at the moment. :) As for the ribbons I don't think it matters just pick what you like best because either way it will have "our" (my son in is the same division) division on it. Just my opinion, see what other advice you get. Thank you so much for the congratulations! I will pass them on to my son when I write him later today.

Oh man! I am so overwhelmed today, I could just cry. Ok. Ribbons. If my sailor is division 952 am I supposed to get a special ops one. Or just regular?

Make hotel reservations
Print out helpful directions for getting on base
Print out how to get permission to go to airport gate
Order my coin from Amazon?

Am I forgetting anything?

I can honestly say, I could not have made it the last few weeks without this site and all you great people!

Hugs to everyone from snowy Minnesota today!

I am so sorry if anyone had been e mailing me. I am a newly separated single mom of four, and hockey season has now started so I am running behind a little. I'll just answer all questions here.

Yes I am planning on attending from MN with my dad who was in the Navy, his g-friend and my daughter. I believe my sailors dad and his g friend are coming with my other two sons.

Wr are attending the Sarges meet and greet.
Bringing a basket with a crouched blanket in Navy colors and some other fillers.
I'm planning on leaving MN early Thursday morning and spending as much of Sunday as I can at the airport with my sailor. Gonna have to go back through comments to figure out how to arrange that again. Lol.

Again I apologize for slow and impersonal responses, but I look forward to meeting everyone in Chicago!!

MrsGregsMom that is wonderful news!! Congrats to your son! What division is he in?

Comment by nancy611 on October 20, 2013 at 12:00pm

good morning!  In my son's letter I got yesterday he stated that due to the shut down they would probably have to stay for a couple of extra months.  That wouldn't be the case, right?  Especially now since it is "open" again?
