OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

@dee, prays go out 2 u & ur daughter. Although she has encountered a set back she shall still have the opportunity to re-take the test. This would afford her the chance to move forward to pursue her career in the navy. With struggle results are success.

I wanted to let you all know that Navy for Mom PIR Friends group on Facebook is working on a Christmas project. We are adopting the children who have parents deployed on the USS Harry S Truman. We are collecting gifts for 300+ children and delivering them to their Christmas Party in mid December. We are hoping to show these kids how grateful we are for what their parents do every day to protect our freedom. Hopefully these gifts and this party will make it a little easier for them even though their mom or dad won't be home for Christmas. If you would like to participate in this wonderful project please join our facebook group for more details. Thanks so much, here is the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/
