N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Just realized I need to RSVP to Sarge for the Meet and Greet on the 14th at

http://navyformoms.com/events/pir-11-15-13-sarge-s-meet-and-greet?r...

Go to events, find the Meet and Greet on the 14th, click the button on the right side of the page that says Attending, then you can leave a comment saying how many will be in your party.  Good way to see who is going!  Some may have also sent their RSVP on Facebook.

Montana Mom:  We rented at the OHare airport...easy but probably a bit more expensive.  However, do you have flights available (Southwest possibly) into Milwaukee WI?  That is only 45 min to GL and there is little to no traffic.  You can avoid the toll roads from there by taking 41, we have been told.  Car rental is probably cheaper too.  So hopefully if you don't have Southwest Airlines where you are, there is another one that services Milwaukee.  Southwest has no change fee and 2 bags check for free.

I do have a smart phone so thank you Ellen. I've used the google map to navigate, is that the navigation app to use to avoid tolls or one I need to get ? I so appreciate all the advice you wonderful gals give.

Montana Mom, If you have a smart phone you can use the navigation app, it works very well. You can also tell it to omit toll roads, it will take you a little bit longer to get from the airport to the hotel, but you can avoid the busy congested freeways.

I was just catching up on everyone's posts today and was feeling sad for all of the negative Nellie comments by people who don't get how blessed we all are to have our SRs serving our country. Even when my daughter has said she had had a tough week (ship2 div 901) she just wanted to make us proud of her and earn that Navy uniform. I told her she makes me proud just by being there! Our SRs are the Best daughters/sons/spouses out there!

Thank you Diannep and Ellen for your encouraging words. I'm not afraid of snow, just of heavy traffic and many lanes of traffic. Someone had said it was kinda of hassle around O'Hair airport? Is it best to rent a car right at the airport?
No letter here today for us either MY GIRL. Hoping for calls and letters for all of us this weekend! I don't know what I'd do without this site and all of you.

I'm pretty sure today was week 3, day 5. Which means Monday starts week 4, which is Hell Week. The next 3 weeks are intense for them from what I've heard, which is why no calls are promised.
