N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thank you diannep. for the recommendation.I  want to also apologize for all the post. Didn't realize it would be such a success. Thank you everyone.

Ok, ladies, great idea on the baskets for Sarge's MeetandGreet.  Now, I would like to ask Javacat to go ahead and set up a discussion above for this.  That way, the discussion among all participating can be kept within that group, making it easier for you all to communicate with each other.  Lets try and keep all of the comments off of this PIR page just so there is room for other info/questions.  Some get alerts on their phones each time a post is made...and with discussion on the baskets coming quickly (which means it is a great idea to do them!)....it may overwhelm some.  So please get that group started above and then occasionally post a link to it on here so that others can find you!  Thanks, ladies!

Good Morning!

I'm loving the excitement you all are creating with your basket project. I was the one who started ours  PIR 11-01-13. So if you need any help what so ever please private message me. We are up to 36 baskets in a little over 3 days. BIG Thank you to Javacat ( Ship 11 Div 002  for stepping up. Now just please be sure to check with Sarge. He is a very nice guy. Oh and we actually got one mom to donate to baskets from Kansas. So go Kansas. You say you can't make it to graduation. No problem you can still contribute. I have a basket coming from California and South Carolina being mailed to me. Cause they want to pay it forward.Good luck to all Have fun with it. It makes the time go faster. And like one mom said you get to do a little retail therapy while shopping for your baskets. I know Sarge will appreciate the love.

I believe RTC suggests ACE car rental.  Another mom on here had said that she booked flights with Southwest and received a car coupon from then for car rental for $12/day (if anyone is interested in knowing more about that, go on Bootcamp Moms group and look for BeachBunny--she posts often....one of the N4Moms veterans on there....her photo icon is of her feet!  She is the one who shared that info).  We got a deal with Budget when we were up there.

For those flying Southwest (remember, no change fee and 2 bags check for free with them), check out Milwaukee as your destination (45 min to GL)....car rental is usually cheaper there than at Chicago-Midway (hour+ and the other airport Southwest flies into).

Letters as in plural?  We only got the "I'm here" phone call and the form letter with his address and PIR date.  We are (ahem...) patiently waiting.  I think one person posted that they did get a letter yesterday.
